It's awesome. I use it for all of my business cards, flyers, pens, sticky notes everything.
My hubby & i started our own buisness & want to get our name out there. We have been making the rounds w/ buisness cards, but a couple people mentioned if we had a flyer. We are pinching pennies & was wondering if there are any "cheap" sites that could guide us in the right direction? Or if anyone has done this in the past & give a pointer or two?
Thank you,

Make a list of the points you think are important about your business. Talk to your friends, or if you have someone who's a sounding board for you, ask them to list the points they see as important. What YOU think is necessary on the flyer may not be of interest to the consumer :)
What kind of business is it? That might help get some pointers as well. You can try googling "creating an effective flyer" or something like that and see what info that brings.
Good luck!
You have a computer, use your computer. It's very easy! Do you have Microsoft Word? Use a template in Word. On my Word, at the upper right hand corner I see a white box that says " Type a question for help." Type in "Fliers" in that space and it will bring up templates of different fliers to choose from. You can then download it to your computer and it should be fairly easy to navigate from there. I made a flier for our church that way. It was free and very easy to do. Good luck!
Try Vistaprint.com.
Vistaprint, vistaprint, vistaprint! Easy to use and you can make some great marketing items cheap! Love them.
Have you thought about looking into Val Pak - that envelope of small flyers and coupons that everyone gets in the mail? I don't know how much it is to advertise that way, but may be worth looking into. I for one will always flip through the ads to see if there's anything relevant for me...
Best of luck on your new venture!
Hi there, My brother made his own flyers with his computer only had to pay for the paper and he made copies at Kincos or someplace like that.
You can make them yourself. They're not that difficult if you have Microsoft Word. I think Works even has a database specifically for flyers. I would suggest you ask a teenage relative that's well versed in computers to help you. Or even if you have a teenage neighbor that would be willing to help you put something together. It wouldn't cost you more than the paper and maybe $20.00 for the person that helps you put it together.
Microsoft Publisher has several versions of flyers already formatted. You just add your own copy, pictures, and information. You can do a flyer in Word but it is a little more work. Do Text boxes for your wording and word art too for fancier wording.
Tip 1: When making flyers be certain to have plenty of white space. This will make the words really stand out.
Tip 2: Don't forget the important things like phone numbers, contact person, hours of operation, and location if applicable.
I hope this information is helpful. I love doing flyers (used to have a writing business).
There are often print shops doing promos for 5000 post card size flyers for about $100 - I've gotten them in the Miami area and picked them up in person to avoid the shipping cost. Do a search on printers in your area and see what comes up.
I just used Vistaprint.com for a variety of items including postcards, stampers, note pads, etc. They have free items all the time, all you pay for is for graphics uploads and shipping/processing. They also offer discounts on subsequent orders.
I suggest the book "Guerilla Marketing" by Jay Conrad Levinson. Start there. There's the website as well, where you can search marketing articles....www.gmarketing.com
If you have any desktop publishing type design software on your computer, you can certainly slap together an informational brochure or flyer.
Good graphic design will cost you, but you can probably do something for now by yourselves.
I work in marketing and we design in InDesign or Quark XPress on our Macs.
If you have microsoft office I'm pretty sure there is a feature on there for flyers. You might find it in templates or wizard. If possible I would do the option where they can pull the phone number off (on the bottom of the page) but also have the phone # listed on the actual flyer. Good luck!
