Ok so I am a natural blonde, bright blonde..well I decided to color my hair..ummm RED, well not just RED, but bright Auburn...EEEKKK i'm pretty pale in color, and now I really look like a ghost. Here is the deal, under my hair there are a few parts of my hair that did not take the red color...soooo its still blonde. My question is...can I go from blonde to red and then perhaps go and have blonde chunks put in my hair to make the blonde part underneath look like it was suppose to be like this. ITs not bad or really noticeable unless I tuck my hair behind my ear (I have a hair cut like victoria beckhams) Soooo. can anyone help me please. I dont hardly ever color my hair, let alone color it so drastically...so I dont know if having the chunks done right away would fry my hair or what. Thanks in advance!!!!

well i did what you said Melanie, my hair is now a deep auburn, but it is pretty. I used the blonde that you suggested and i didnt want to use the red again ontop of it because the blonde just covered the spots that i missed and now my hair is evened out juts fine. I did buy a really good conditioning mask to save my hair after the coloring, seems my hair is now softer fuller and prettier than before. its great. I am thinking about going and doing the highlights eventually, but because of the blonde and the origional red together kinda added its own highlights, i may not have to. We'll see. Thanks everyone for your input and suggestions. You're life (hair) savers lol.

In case you have to wait a bit to go to a salon, you might try what I did (my hairdresser told me to). I have naturally brown hair that I keep colored a light reddish blonde. The color was getting dull so I decided to enhance it with a semipermanent reddish blonde. Ewwwwww! I looked like my head was on fire. So, as my stylist suggested, I took some Dawn dishwashing soap and some baking soda into the shower with me and washed my hair with a mixture of it. Then I THOUROUGHLY and HEAVILY conditioned my hair. All the horrendous fire color came out and I was back to where I started. Fabulous and cheap! Make sure you use a conditioning mask or something of the like. Good luck!
In case you were thinking about doing it yourself - what really fries your hair is the color lifter. It can be quite awful and leave you with a lovely shade of orange. Go to a good salon. Take their recommendation because there is NO WAY to make it look good at home from here.

I would go to a Toni & Guy in your area--they have trained color specialists that know how to do color reversals!
S., as a professional stylist of 12 years here is some advice. If you really just have to watch the money this will help you. Don't go get it highlighted just yet. You need to fill the blonde in your hair because the red is going to fade FAST! Your beautiful red will almost become a mauve or muted and dull pink by next week. Go get a dark golden blonde or light golden brown in a semi permant color. Put that on and let it process. Shampoo out. Next have the red you want in a semi permant color as well. Put the red on after you have dried your hair 50%. Doing this with the 2 colors will help with the fading. Blonde hair has no pigment and in order for blonde to hold color you have to fill that cuticle first. The golden blonde/brown will also keep you from having "hot" roots. Highlights would look very pretty and dimensional but don't do it yourself or you will be orange! Let your stylist do the highlights. Good luck!
