Cold Sore on Nose! Any Remedies?

My daughter got those around her nose before. Go to the Doctor and he will subscribe medication. Aslo my daughters dentist lasered her cold sore and it never came back.

ooo, my daughter had what I thought was a cold sore - turned out to be Impetigo - a virus, spreads around the mouth - really yucky. May want to see the doctor to rule out before it gets that far.

Cold sores are herpes viruses - there's little that can be done to prevent them (they can only be treated, not cured).

But, I do agree with the recommendation to make sure that's what it is (and not some other cause like the impetigo mentioned earlier).

Usually, the best trick for cold sores is to dry them out (lysine products such as herpecin-L, Abreva, and Carmex are all good at helping dry them out).

There are no known home remedies with confirmed scientific evidence to treat herpes complex viruses (if there were, pharmaceutical companies would be making big $$$$$ on them)

I get them all the time too, especially when I'm stressed. After I had my twins I even got one on my eye. Abreva works great, but since I get them so bad, my doctor gave me oral Vatrex that I take when I feel cold sores coming on. FIY I don't have genital herpes, but Valtrex works for cold sores also.

When I feel the slightest, and I do mean slightest, twinge of a cold sore, I put ice on it. Not wrapped up in a paper towel, just straight on the skin. I'll do this four or five times a day for a couple of days and it keeps the cold sore from coming.

there is an amino acid that is not produced by the body. it's called lysine. my mom and i swear by the pills. my mom takes it everyday but i only take it as needed. we buy ours at walmart!!!
