If her fever is low, I would give her some Tylenol or Motrin and lots of fluids. If she doesn't feel better tomorrow, I would call the Dr. Kids can run a temp for seemingly no reason. Just keep an eye on her temp and pump the fluids.
My daughter just turned a year old and she woke up this morning a little fussy. She has been running a low grade fever and has become pretty lathargic. She isn't acting as happy as she usualy does and all she wants to do is sleep or lay around. Should I take her to the Dr? She doesn't seen to be sick though. Thanks for the help!
Thank you everyone! Took Marlee in and it seems she is getting her 1 year molars! Who knew? Thanks again for all the wonderful advice!

Actually... all of the things you mentioned ARE things that say "sick". She might not be throwing up or coughing, but she's definitely either sick or teething.
Something you will run into:
The technical definition of lethargic is "ragdoll limp". Which isn't how I use it in every day life. If she's ragdoll limp, take her in immediately. (ANY time that happens). If, however, she's layabout tired... give your office a call, & talk to one of the nurses (who'll be able to do a phone-triage).

How lethargic? Give her a little tylenol and see if she perks up. Be sure she is hydrated and check for a new tooth coming in. If she does not perk up or will not take fluids, then I would take her in.
Her fever will most likely go up this afternoon (usually highest around dinner time) so keep an eye on it. Fever can be a sign of an ear infection, so if she just finished a cold or any type of congestion I would take her in to the doctor.
Keep an eye on the fever by taking it at regular intervals , give her Tylenol to help bring the fever down , if it doesn't work and her temp is over 100 then call and speak to a nurse at your doctors office and see what they say , more than likely just a bug that is going around & she will probably be off her food but make sure she has plenty of fluids , if she won't drink them willingly then try with a syringe.
Im so happy your daughter is doing ok. When I was reading her symptoms my heart sank. My 1yr old little boy had the same symptoms 2 months ago. He had an elevated temp and got very lathargic and all he wanted to do was sleep, i took him to a doctor and they told me had a virus, that same night after he slept most of the day i took him to the ER, they Diagnosed him with DKA Diabetic Ketoacidosis, my little boy passed away 2 days later. If the doctor had done a finger prick to test his blood that morning whos to say my little boy would be here with me today. Ladies i dont tell you this to upset you. I tell you so that no other parent has to go through what me and my family are experiencing now. The symptoms are, eating , peeing and drinking more than usual and being very lathargic. If the doctors tell you its a virus(which it could be) ask for a blood test to make sure, what harm can it do. By the way Diabetes does not run in my family. I wish you all well. please say a prayer for my little boy Rocco x
if she's lethargic then yes take her in.
Wait a day or two. Keep fluids in her and trying to feed her. Also Tylenol wouldn't hurt.
Yes take her to the doctor-especially if she has been lethargic! Its easier to go and just make sure she is ok-Sometimes when babies are sick its not always such obvious symptoms
sounds exactly like my 18 month old when ever he gets an ear infection. And the wierdest part about it is, he gets a mild case of diarrhea along with it and it confused me a few times thinking that he had the flu.
i would do what the others said, give her some tylenol. See how she does after that, and give her a bath too. Even though they say don't give a warm bath when they have fever, it helps my son a lot and you can imagine how you feel after you've done the same for yourself (relaxed). And just to let you know, when babies are lethargic they're hardly happy at all. At least from my experience with my kids and other kids I've sat for. if something is bothering her, she may just want to sleep all day because it helps her. But if she starts to become unresponsive and it seems that her reflexes are not in tuned, then i would call the doctor. hang tight, after the tylenol decide what you plan to do. and the other responses about fever getting higher towards the end of the day is very true.... and if she's coming down with a cold, it will be worse at night than during the day.
good luck and keep us posted.
She is sick.
Watch her fever....or if any new symptoms arises.
Keep in mind, that if you give her Tylenol or anything for fever... it only lowers the fever... NOT "cure" the illness. Tylenol etc., just masks the symptoms.
All the best,
Susan
Lindsey,
Has she had any immunization shots lately? My daughter was always healthy until an immunization shot caused her to have a seziure, and she had been runnibg a low temp for a few days after the shot.
Lathurgy is not normal keep an eye on her milestones and make sure she is not loosing any of her skills. If she is having trouble eating (refusing foods she normally likes) and is haveing ant problems drinking take her to the doctor right away.
You seem like a dilegent parent, so go with your instincts....THEY are ALWAYS RIGHT. Plus it's better safe than sorry with our babie. I would rater be seen as an overly conerned parent than have my baby hurt in any way.
Good Luck and God bless,
A.

Is she urinating? How many diapers has she gone through in the past few hours? Has she been drinking fluids? The doctor may ask these questions to assess for dehydration which are consistent with some of the symptoms that you describe but would have to be more thoroughly evaluated by her pediatrician or medical doctor, which I am not.
