Cloth Diapers - Grand Junction,CO

I used cloth diapers on my first born(who is now almost 10).I used a diaper service,where you could take the dirty ones and exchange for clean ones.Personally I think that is the only way to go.Consider the time and cost of washing all the soiled ones.Good Luck!!

I attempted to used cloth diapers with a service to be eco-friendly. It was such a mess and all around yuck. My ex and I still joke about the "$60 diaper pail" that was "included" with the service that we cancelled. But we got to keep the pail! :) I'd stick to Luvs....

so glad you're considering cloth diapers! I think they're great, and when you have a service, just as easy as disposable. Plus they end up being cheaper. We use The Changing Table out of Boulder

They deliver and pick up the diapers every week, wash them of course, give you a diaper pail to use with air fresheners at no extra cost- the only thing you have to buy are the wraps, and I recommend the plain-jane Proraps from Jardine Diapers.com- they have the best price. You can buy the cutesy ones but they are twice as much. Probably get 5 or 6 wraps in each size and you'll be set.
Aside from the Changing Table there's EarthSmart Diapers and Rocky Mountain ... out of Longmont, but depending on where you live they might not deliver to you. Another thing I love about the Changing table, their delivery van runs on biodiesel. Plus their service is very personalized and responsive- you're not just an account number, they know your name and can accommodate almost anyone's needs.
I would get a service rather than spending money on my own diapers and supplies because if it doesn't work out (your baby boy soaks thru them every 5 minutes, etc) then you're not stuck with a huge inventory of used cloth baby diapers.

I used cloth diapers with my first 2 children. My oldest is turning 13 next month, so it has been a while! We just used the ones that fold in on the sides. They are easy to fold too when they come out of the dryer. You will totally save money too. I used Biz to soak the diapers in to get them clean after rinsing them first in the toilet. You can double up for night if they start going through. Another thing we did to make them fit was to turn down the diaper in the front for boys and back for girls if it is too long for them (especially when they are little). It is definitely more work but I beleive we saved alot of money and it was very scarce in those days. Good luck. Hope this helps.

I went through the same thing a few months ago, and I found the Bum Genius 2.0 diapers. They are so wonderful!!! They are so easy to maintain, and they grow with your baby up to potty training, so you are only buying one diaper verses 3 different sizes. (And they have some really great colors too!) I recommend the starter pack, it has 24 diapers and 2 sizes of inserts, which I get lots of use out of both the sizes. I also recommend the wiper warmer (from Prince Lionheart, but you can get it at this same site) and the terry wipes, they are so great! (They also have a wipes package- we ended up getting 2 of these.) I could not be happier with the diapers, wipes and warmers. With the 24 diapers, we have to do a load every day, sometimes we can get away with doing a load every other day- but it is no problem for us. My daughter seems very comfortable in them, the inside is super soft. Compared to disposables, they pay for themselves inside of 6 months, they are the only diapers you'll have to buy, and you can use them for other kiddos that may some along as well. I would recommend using disposables for the first few days until the meconium works it way out- it is really sticky and can be difficult to get out of cloth diapers. But if you are having your baby in a hospital, they can give you a package of the newborn diapers, and you won't have to worry about running to the store to get any. We have a seven month old boy and have been using Fuzzi Bunz with great success! I'm pretty sure they have their own website. We purchased the starter kit for just over $300 and have been very happy with the number of diapers, wipes and inserts included. There are a few extra absorbant inserts for night time and naps and they have been sufficent. We wash them pretty much every other day and then line dry them as often as possible. We've found that the sun works wonders on any residual stains, but they come clean out of the dryer too. They are super easy (snap clousers), comfortable for our baby (flece liner - almost no diper rash!), and pretty darn cute to boot (there is a large choice of colors). We are VERY happy with this choice. They are easy to use out and about as well. We bought size medium in the hopes that this will be all we need. Each size has several settings for the snaps, so they expand as the baby grows. We did use disposibles for the first two months (more or less, I'm not exactally sure) because of the fit when he was a brand new little guy. I also contacted a store in town to help with the decision process speciffically the sizing, Under the Cabbage Leaf. They have a website too. I can't say enough about these diapers! I also ues cloth diapers for my kids. There were advantages and dieadvantages to this, but for the most part I liked it. i found a fabric store here in Salt Lake City were I live that has diaper flannel. Then I cut it in to square and hemmed the sides. This was good for me because those diapers could be folded as big or as small as you want to make them,they are not precut. If I needed to I could double up the diapers for better absorbtion. Some diaper services have used diapers you can buy from them. I tried that once, but didn't like it. The diapers were just too different. I think the hardest thing might be trying to find diaper pins and plastic pants. Here they used to be in the checkout isles and in the baby section. I haven't seen them for a long time. Babies are both fun and nerve racking, especially the first one, but they give back the love in so many ways its great to be a mom. Good luck!

I used cloth with both of my kids with great success. I think what kind you use really depends on your situation. I started out with fitteds and wool, but when I went back to work used all in ones w/ the sitter. I have 4 kids. With our first we sat down with my mother-in-law to price out cloth (which she used) vs. disposable diapers. Her opinion to us was that with each kid you need to rebuy the cloth diapers, so each time you have that expense, plus the cost of laundry detergent, wear and tear of the machine, water & electricity to run the machine. Not to mention the time to fold the things. Any way long story short, my husband is a computer geek, he writes programs. So he calculates all of "cost" over the kids "diaper life" and figured if I could get the diapers for a certain price, then I should buy disposables. I buy the cheap walmart diapers, no problems with them. They are just as good as expensive brands, and I don't really have the time to fold all those diapers anyways. So before you buy cloth, really look at the cost of not just the supplies, but the wear and tear of your machine and the cost of your time to take care of them. My number 4 is a 1 year old. We are stressed granite, but I could never imagine having to do cloth diapers with him let alone any of my other kids. So to all you cloth diaper fanatics...you don't know what your missing...it is called time!!!!

I have used cloth diapers since my 6 month year old daughter was born - so, I am still new to them. I did a little research and chose fuzzi bunz http://www.fuzzibunz.com and I bought them on ebay. I have been really happy with them because they are easy to put on and wash. I also use disposable liners by Kushies http://www.kushiesonline.com/Flushable-Biogradable-Diaper..., which is great for poopy diapers - because you can flush the liners, which takes away most of the mess.

First off Congratulations on your upcoming arrival! We are using cloth diapers with our first child and will be for the second also! Kim is right, it took us three types of diapers before we found the right fit. My favorite site and the one we “belong” to is cotton babies. The address is www.cottonbabies.com They sell most of the new cotton diapers. and have most brands as a trial diaper so you can see for yourself! We found that the fuzzi bunz are the best for our little guy. He is 2 and a heavy heavy wetter! Most people we talk to who use cloth find that fuzzi bunz work for them also. Also remember these are not our mom's diapers, there is no soaking them in water or dipping in the potty! With the fuzzi bunz we just toss them in the wash in one load and follow the directions! The nice thing about cotton babies is that you can join their growing up in cotton for 5 dollars and do a trade in from once size to the next! I will tell you that when we are on vacation I tend to not use them simply because of having to find a laundry to wash! When we do travel we use a flushable diaper called a g diaper, www.gdiaper.com it has a nice “outer” shell that can be easily hand washed and the insert can be flushed away!
