Hi. I currently use a mix of Happy Heiny pocket diapers and MotherEase fitteds. I am looking for advice on how to wash them without the velcro all getting tangled together. I am also looking for advice on stripping them. I currently use the Trader Joe's basic powder laundry detergent and occasional do a vinegar rinse. Sometimes they still smell when they come out of the dryer. Thanks, Jen

What can I do next?

When I had to strip my diapers this is the method I used: http://www.zany-zebra.com/stripping-cloth-diapers.shtml

As for the velcro... well, I hate that too! I make sure the tabs are folded over or fastened to the strip and I just throw them in the dryer for about 10 minutes. They don't need much longer than that.

I soak mine overnight in vinegar, then I drain the water, wash in hot, then cold.

I haven't had a problem with them sticking together in the dryer, but I'd recommend hanging them up or outside too...

I've heard of friends stripping them by using the hottest setting you have and using liquid dish soap till the suds are gone..

Hi J.
I did a cold water rinse, hot water wash using trader joes laundry soap too, then a cold rinse w/ vinegar. Fold the velcro tabs so there closed, makes them last longer. And I never use the dryer for my covers, it wears out the PUL fabric faster. I hung mine on the line in the sun to dry and they smelled great and bleached naturally.
God luck! A. H

With my g diapers, I velco the diapers back together before putting them in the wash. It works pretty good.

Hi Jen,
I don't use those kind of diapers but have found the seventh generation baby detergent works best. You can get coupons online, and purchase at Babies 'R' Us or buy buy Baby. Meijer & Target sell seventh generation but it's hard to find the baby one.
