Clogged Fuel Injectors on an Expedition - How Do You Clean Them?

I went to the dealership about this issue and was told that if this IS the cause, it would be covered under warranty to repair. This is the 2nd time I've had this same problem. But if it wasn't the problem, there would be a $93 diagnostic charge that I would have to pay ON TOP OF them fixing whatever was wrong. If it's under warranty, the charge would be covered.

I think the problem is due to our buying cheap gas b/c this is my 3rd blue Expedition and I NEVER had this problem with the other two when I used Chevron gas. Is there something that can be added to a tank of gas or an empty tank to fix it on my own??

What can I do next?

I feel for you. My husband put some gas in my new Mercedes a couple weeks ago and it was not good. Because he did it with his gas it was OUR problem. The newer cars have a very sensitive system and the slightest reading that is not good will shut your car down. At least that is how Mercedes works.

There is a product called STP gas treatment and it has helped in his Jeep.

My car, however, died on me. It would not start or anything. I had to have it towed and Mercedes kept it a week to get everything cleaned out and replaced to the tune of $2000. We will never ever put anything but highest grade gas in again. Boy did we learn an expensive lesson.

Good luck to you.
Susan

I'd be interested in knowing exactly what is going on with your car, because I had what we thought was something wrong with the fuel injectors & it ended up being one of the coil packs. We went through alot of mechanics & one day one of my hubby's work friends told him that his Expedition had been doing the same thing & told us it was one of the coil packs. We then found out which one, changed it & it's good as new.

You can go to Auto zone and buy some Gas treatment put it in a full tank of Gas but becareful where your buying your gas from. Some places add water to their gas so that it makes more money for them...Try to stick with the American Gas and not the foreign gas supplers. Once you put the Gas treatment in you need to do it atleast once a month. What exactly is going on with your vehicle though?

Make sure you buy the right grade of gas... AND let them do it. I mean, I know it is costly.... but something isn't right! OR take it to another dealer if you don't trust your current one.

There is a fuel injection cleaner(several types) that you can use before you fill the tank. You can buy these at Wal mart or Target in the Auto section. There's directions on the back that is pretty straight forward. Since you have a big car i would use it atleast every 2 weeks.
