Need to know if anyone can suggest a crib tent that fits a sleigh bed with the back taller then the front. I have a 14month old crib climber.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Doctor recommended I get her into a toddler bed with an extra tall gate at the door and a super baby proofed room. Worked great!!

You know E., as a early childhood teacher and parent educator that's been through all the safety training, and heard the horror stories, I would have to say your safest bet is to move this child into a regular toddler bed and then just child proof the room.

Do you have a safe way to keep him contained to his room, so he doesn't go exploring the house at night?

At this age one of those round door knob sheaths that you slip over the knob, to prevent a small child from turning the knob, should do the trick. Just install it over the door knob, on the inside of the bedroom.

Don't forget to safety proof your electrical outlets and plugs in his bedroom. Remove breakables and smothering hazards.

I would definately consider a toddler bed early and super baby proof her room with a baby gate and a baby monitor as well.

I had a climber too, my daughter. Good luck!

Have you ajusted the crib mattress all the way to the lowest level? If you have, and he is still climbing out then it is time for a regular bed. Fairly tall gates for the bedroom doorway are available these days so that he won't roam the house alone. There are also door knob covers and door alarms available.

Good Luck

Hi E.,

I am pretty sure the crib tent is sold at Babies R Us.
Has your child's pediatrician said anything regarding a toddler bed early? I know of two mother's that started their child in a toddler bed around that time. Keep in mind that means your little one likes to be up and mobile any time they want at night or day.

Best of luck and hope to hear from you soon. Hang in there! Trust your instinct and know if it becomes a safety issue then you'll need to arrange for plan B.
