Cleaning Leather Couches

I have a leather couch and two young boys who eat on it. I always feel like it smells funny and I cannot figure out why. I clean it, vacuum it and it still never seems clean. What could you recommend to clean it.

What can I do next?

K.,

If you are near Ikea, they have a very inexpensive leather cleaning kit, under 10 bucks. I made the mistake of buying cream leather chairs, what was I thinking? Anyway, this cleaner is very mild, smells pleasant and works great! If the covers zip, you can always slip a dryer sheet inside to freshen the stuffing, if not slip the dryer sheets under the cushions themselves.

When we got our leather furniture from Art Van they gave us a leather cleaning kit. It seems to work pretty good. When we got our new furniture we also made a new rule that the kids are only allowed to eat in the kitchen except when we are having a special "movie night".

You might try baking soda sprinkled in all the cracks and crevices and under the cushions let it sit for awhile then vacuum away (baking soda absorbs odors) if that doesn't work try dryer sheets stuffed under and inbetween cushions

Saddle Soap does wonders. I'm not sure if you can get it in a liquid but I know you can get it in a paste that you rub on then rub off. It cleans and conditions the leather in one step and it makes it smell great. You can also use it on leather boots, shoes, purses, gloves, anything leather.

I have the leather cleaning kit from Art Van. I have tan leather, two kids and a dog. It works great to clean and condition. It also has a ink remover that I also have needed to use. It came with the furniture but I am sure they would sell you a kit.

I am a health nut and for 28 years have used a natural cleaner made from yucca, aloe, agave and coconut amids and amines which means it makes water wetter and safe to use on everything even leather. Highly concentrated as only 2 tsps will make 8 oz of cleaner which I use on my leather furniture without making it brittle. Natural enzymes cleans everything natural like food or bugs, anything once alive!

I give free samples to everyone as too many chemicals are invading our atmosphere, home and bodies. God Bless, Gladys

K. try a saddle shop, y'know, where they sell riding tack. They should definitely have some liquid saddle soap. It cleans leather, smells good. Good for more than saddles and couches too. Jackets, shoes, purses.

I use Murphy's Oil Soap to clean my leather couch and chair. It works very well.
