Trying to make the kitchen cabinets shine like new. How do you remove the build up from all the cooking. Also we have some spots that look like some ran down the front of them off the counter. It's blackish looking discoloration. I have tried a remover then using liquitd gold but it doesn't seem to help. Needing some good advice.

Thanks

I saw a show recently about safe, green cleaning. For wood cabinets, they recommended heating a damp sponge in the microwave for 45 sec to one minute. Wear gloves, because the sponge will be hot when you use it! Spray the cabinets with a citrus oil cased cleaner (like Orange Glo) and wipe with the hot sponge. You will need to reheat the sponge every now and then, but it really does work. I tried it, and it did wonders for renewing my cabinets, and it smelled wonderful.

I have always wiped down my wooden kitchen cabinets w/ a solution of very hot water and a little bit of dish soap. It cuts the grease and cleans them. Not good for making it shine. After they are clean, I dry them with a towel. Then I just polish them with a furnature/wood polisher.
But if you want them to look new again try Rejuvenate for them. Here is a link to the product. My grandma uses it and it works wonders in making her woodwork look great.

I sell cabinets and this is advice directly from a cabinet mfg: For cabinet interiors: wipe with clean, soft, damp cloth and dry immediately. Never use kitchen cloths or sponges that might have detergent or grease on them. To remove food residue or grease, use common dishwashing liquid (not deteregent) or solution of mild soap and water. Wipe with a clean, damp cloth and dry thoroughly.
For cabinet exteriors: Clean at least once a month with a clean, damp cloth, then dry immediately. Do not use a dishcloth. Use product's (such as Murphy's Oil Soap) that contain no wax, petroluem or silicones. Excess moisture will damage your cabinets so be sure to dry completely.
If you do not have wood but a laminate or thermofoil surface most non-abrasive cleaners are ideal. Use somethinglike "409" or "Simple Green". Avoild cleaners with acetone, ethyl alcohol or mineral oils. Do not wax or polish.

Dear J.,

Try mineral spirits (aka paint thinner - BUT NOT lacquer thinner.) Most finishes on cabinets will not be harmed but the usual disclaimer applies - try it first on a place that doesn't show.

God Bless,

Just on Cleaner ever worked for me. Its called The Victorian House Finish Rejuvenator and it degreases the wood and brings back the shine without removing the finish. I like it because it takes off the grease instead of just adding more to it like orange oils and such. ANYTHING I tried with water made gummy gunk. Try it I know its gonna work. Hi J.
I actually had the same issue with a house my son bought in Columbus Oh. The cabinets had never been cleaned. Because of the safety issues of the cleaning products out there I turned to Shaklee products to do the job. They are safe for you and your little ones and THEY WORK. I got his kitchen to look like new and NOBODY suffered from any fumes of cleaning products because there weren't any. Good Luck and I look forward to hearing from you.

Shaklee's Get Clean products work great! A combo of their Basic H2 and Nature Bright will clean just about everything. The products are all natural with no chemicals so they are safe around kids/pets and have hundreds of uses. It's all super concentrated so a little bit goes a long way! I'm actually a distributor and would be happy to send you some free samples if you want - enough to clean your cabinets at least. Just let me know!
