Cleaning Crayon

I just bought a new coffee table that has tile inlays in the middle of the table. I let my daughter color her pictures on the table but sometimes she gets it on the tile. Does anyone know how to remove the crayon from the tile? I have tried regular cleaners and my mom had even read about tring nail polish remover. None of which worked. There is no sealent and anything on top of the tile so I don't think anything harsh is going to discolor it. I will take any ideas.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I used the magic eraser. It worked but it left a white film on the tile. I wiped that away with a lysol wipe. For now it is clean. I think next time I will try the baking soda. Thanks for all the ideas!

Try using a magic eraser. I was able to completely clean my then 2-year-old's blue crayon "art project" from my white walls. It's chemical-free and doesn't take much elbow grease.

Magic Eraser will do the trick. You'll be surprised at what that little thing can do. Took crayon off our wall before, so I imagine it should work for a table too. Good luck.

I agree - try a magic eraser. If that doesn't work then take a trip to a home improvement store (or a specialty flooring store) and ask someone who works there what might help. Maybe some kind of special tile and grout cleaner? If the tile is porous and the crayon has been absorbed into the tile there might not be a whole lot you can do about it.

WD-40 takes crayon off immediately! Spray it on and wipe with a dry cloth. That's all there is to it. It doesn't not leave an oily mess either because it's not an oil.

My son colored on our kitchen cabinets just yesterday. I tried so many things but what finally got it out was baking soda! I put a little bit on a damp cloth and it came right off!

Try Mr. Clean Magic Earser. It works on everything, and is gentle with no odor. I've gotten Sharpie pen off wood furniture and a chalk board without discoloring anything else!

Hi M.! Were you able to get it out? I'm not sure if you are able to get Sol-U-Mel, but that would do it. It has gotten marker out of my carpet, and not discolored the carpet at all. I also use it for red wine and coffee stains as well as to magic marker off of linoliem. You aren't too far from me, if you arent' able to get it I could mail you a small sample to use! :) Just PM me if you need it!

Definitly try the magic eraser!! it took dry erase marker off my couch!! (I used it dry that time) if that wont work, layer with paper towels (brown paper is just not going to work for this one) and iron! the heat from the iron should melt the wax, and then the paper towel asorbs it. This also works on wax drips on carpet and things.. you will have to keep moving the towel to have clean spots, but it should get it out of the pores of the tile.. the toothbrush and bakingsoda would be a good one too tho..
