It's time for spring cleaning in our house. I need to clean the blinds...we have the faux wood kind. Every time I clean them I feel like it turns into a muddy mess or they just don't look all that clean. We have a few rather large windows that have blinds too (84 in. high). Any great tricks out there to cleaning window blinds? TIA

What can I do next?

I don't have any magic suggestions but I clean blinds by wearing long socks on my hands and spraying one side; wiping the all down with the socks and then flipping the blinds the other direction to do it again.....with the socks I can really get in there with my hands to clean them......I usually go through a few pairs of socks for my house.

My mother in law gave me a blind duster for a faux wood blinds that seems to do a good job. It doesn't "clean" them, but they aren't dusty anymore!

When we recently painted our kitchen I took ours down and put them in the tub (one set at a time) with dishwashing detergent (I think - so it wouldn't damage the cords) and scrubbed them with a shower brush - then laid them out to dry - and they now look brand new. They were so bad I was thinking about just replacing them - but they look great now! And I thought it was going to be a painful and awful process - but ti didn't take that long. Good luck!

I use two blind dusters... I run it through once dry to "dust" them, then a second time with a wet one to really clean them. I think it's just a dirty chore that will never be "easy" =(

The dreaded faux wood blind cleaning. I don't know of any easy way to clean them without making a mess. I'm hoping others will post suggestions because it's time for ours to be done again too. I have always taken a rag and done blind by blind constantly rinsing the rag. It's a pain in the butt. If anyone else has an easier way of doing it please let us know. Thanks.

I feel your pain....I have the cherry wood blinds....every speck of dust shows! And if you accidently touch the blinds, you can really see how dusty they are! I vaccuum them, then dust them with pledge, then flip them over and do the other side. I have 53 windows in my house!!! I too would like to know if there is a better way! I'll be anxiously waiting for responses to your post!! Good luck!
