Hi,
I work for Stairway Creations & Luxury Floors.
The boss says never use water on it.
Only us Bona Hardwood floor Cleaner. Just follow the directions. You can buy it at Lowes or Home Depot.
Hey Mommas,
I just had engineered hardwood floors put in, so my question is on maintenance. How do you clean it and with what? Does one product work better than another. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
E.
Thank you all very much for your help. It's not laminate because their is layers of wood beneath our top coat, I will call the installation company and see what they recommend and will also try the Bonafide brand. Once again thanks to everyone for your help.

We just put this in our bedroom and part of our kitchen. LOVE it. I have been using Murphy's and my steam mop.
I have serously been looking at the BONA cleaner, though and appreciate the expert recommendation below! I am going to go pick some up ASAP.
Do you mean laminate wood floors when you say "engineered"?
I am going to assume yes and let you know what I do. We have only laminate wood floors in our house, 2 cats, 2 toddlers, and 2 stories.
I vacuum or sweep every other day to pick up cat hair and food particles and whatnot. I would only vacuum, but sweeping is quieter so I do that sometimes in the kitchen after lunch when my kids are sleeping.
When I think the floor needs a cleaning, I make a pail of 1 part vinegar (I buy the distilled white from Costco) and 2 parts water. I put an old hand towel in and then wring super dry -then wash the floors. Then I follow up almost immedietely with a dry towel to shine. It is hands on, but I feel it is a good method, low chemical, super cheap, etc.
If there is a tough spot, I use a magic eraser with a tad of water and then dry with a towel to shine.
Been doing this for 3 years on our floors and they still look great.
Swiffer Wet Jet has a solution for wood floors.
I would call the company and ask them what they recommend you surely don't want to ruin them with a cleaner that will harm them. I can't believe they didn't tell you when they installed them.

I use a water and vinegar mixture. I try to only use natural cleaning products. I hear steam mops can damage and other "wood" cleaners can create a build up. I do think calling the company would be a good start if you are still unsure.
