I have 3-year-son and want to enroll him for swimming or karate classes. But people keep saying (around me) he is still too small for it. What do you think? Thank you.

Your son is not too young for swimming. You may have a problem finding a karate class for him because those classes are instructed by people who may need to see the maturity (ability to follow instruction) of your child and may also have a minimum age limit. When the children in my house were small the rules of the dojo where they trained stated they needed to be at least 6 years old.

Make some phone calls and schedule your appointments.

Go for it! I wish I had been able to do that for my son when he was 3, He's into soccer and he is 5 hes awesome. It's great for kids to engage in such physical activities at this age, it helps them greatly, go for it!

I.- I don't know where you live but we are in Brooklyn. Our 4 month old takes swim classes! So he's not too young! Find a nearby YMCA!
Also karate can start that early too. Around here it 3,3.5
Best, J

My 4 year old takes swim classes. She started when she was 3 yrs 9 mos. She loves them! It's the highlight of her week. I wanted to start her young before she became afraid of the water. She is getting really good too, it's not just playing in the water.

Hi I.! I enrolled my daughter in swim classes when she was 9 months (yes- 9 months old!) at the YMCA. Not only does she now love the water, I am certain that she will be a strong swimmer when she gets older. At 3 yrs, you may have enroll him in the beginner class and be in the pool with him, but it's fun and they learn to love the water.
