I recommend Paisley Haus in san jose. The lady has been doing it for a long time and looked quite experienced. The price too is quite affordable
My daughter wants to get her ears pierced at Claire's at the mall. I'm weary of getting ears pierced at the mall. Help mamas. Good experience or bad? Are they experienced? Anyone get it done at Hillsdale Mall in San Mateo? thanks!
So we went to Claire's yesterday to check out the selection of earrings and I was also there to also scope out the girls who work there. This one gal, Jocelyn, came over right away, asked if we needed help, and I asked a bunch of questions about the process, etc. She was confidant in how she spoke, talked through how they're all trained and certified in ear piercing and pierce earrings for babies all the way through women in their 70s. I was very comfortable with her piercing my daughter's ears, and my daughter was still quite a bit nervous. She had it set in her mind that Sunday was the day she'd do it, but that particular girl was not going to be working on Sunday (today). So, we walked the mall so she could think about it and she decided she wanted to do it. We returned to Claire's just to see that Jocelyn just finished up with a baby (13 months) and she wasn't even crying. I then knew that these girls were trained well and took their jobs seriously. So Jocelyn and I spent about 10 minutes making sure her " dot" was even on both sides, and my daughter decided to get it over with in one swoop. Jocelyn called over another gal, who apparently was the store mananger, and it was over with before you knew it, and my daughter said, Oh, that didn't even hurt! She looks beautiful with her new earrings, she's happy and Mommy is relieved!
Thanks, Mamas, for all the advice!

That is were my daughter got her's done when she was 5. No problems getting them pierced there. They did a great job and she loved her Hello Kitty earrings and we let her pick out some more.
After words is when we started having problems, but it may have just been my daughter. Her hair is always getting caught in the earrings and then they get pulled out. I can't even count up the number of earrings she has lost because of this. I think getting a complete hoop would fix it, so I'm looking.
Plus, if we don't twist the earring around, the back of it get stuck all the way in her ear. And, one of them must have gotten ripped a little or her ear might have healed weirdly because now one of them is little lower than what it was when she first got it pierced.
Not trying to discourage you, I would have done it again, just wanted to give you a heads up of some things to look for.
I would really encourage you to find a place with a trained professional that pierces by hand as opposed to a minimum wage teenager using those horrible piercing guns...
My 7 year old had her ears pierced at Clairs and we have had no problems. Unless the employee is new, they have probably pierced many ears. Oops just read that you asked about Hillsdale Mall, have no experience there.
