The earlier the better!!! I was lucky enough to have my pediatrician come to the hospital. I would not advise watching even tho you are allowed. Good luck with having your son!!!
Boy oh boy, they say for sure we are having a boy! I was wondering what parents are doing regarding circumcisions these days. We're not concerned about religious reasons, just wondering what mothers' thoughts are... like reasons we should or should not do it and when is the best time? Any thoughts will be well appreciated! Thank you!

If I was having a boy again I would cicumcise him like my first. Also to be like daddy.
Hello M.,
I have a 4 year old little boy and he is not circumcised. We decided not to have the procedure done mostly because we are not religous and felt that there were no strong aruments to have this done. At first I assumed that if I ever had a baby boy that he would be circumcised. My husband felt strongly that we didn't need to put our child thru the pain for no good reason. My pediatrician was very suppotive and told me that we would have to keep that area clean. All you have to do is make sure you clean under the fold of skin. I believe that the way he developed and grew inside of me is the way he was meant to stay. Of course unless it was life threatening. Ethan is a happy well adjusted child and I am very happy about our decision.
I guess my point is that the procedure is unnecessary, so unless there is a strong tradition or religious reasons. Good luck and I hope you get the information you are looking for.

We had our son circumsized. I had researched it and it's much easier to clean, less chance of infection, and when he's much much older statistics show men who are circumsized have a much lower chance of getting an std.

Hi,
We decided to circumsize our son because my husband is and for health purposes. It is easier to clean and we don't need to worry about any infections. We had him done in the hospital the day after his birth and he did just fine. Our pediatrician did it and said that he didn't cry at all. They put a topical on and give them a pacifier to suck on. Afterwards we kept it clean by putting vaseline on it and then laying a gauze pad over it so it wouldn't stick to the diaper. It healed just fine and we are happy we did it.
Good luck with your decision. Personally I think that it is a personal decision and your son will be just fine with whatever decision you make. Congrats on the pregnancy!
Where in the North Valley are you located?
Hey M., Congratulations on your pregnancy. It's a pretty heated topic that you raise, with people feeling passionately on both sides of the issue. Personally, I am against routine circumcisions, as it is not a medically necessary procedure. Here are a few links to help you in your research. Good luck with your decision!

We chose not to have our boys circumcized even though the men on both sides of our family are. We have had no problems with cleanliness etc. My oldest is 7 so I am still not sure what the 'locker room impact' wlil be. Our family is white and I think it is more common for Hispanic and African American kids not to be circumcized. At the time the doctors told me that there was no medical reason to circumcise. I could just not bear the thought of letting my tiny little boy be hurt in any way. I'm interested to see what others opinions are.
