Hi E.,
My name is T., and I had the very same things wrong with me. Have you ever been tested for Lupus or Fibromayalga? I foundout that mine was Lupus SLE..

I suffered weakness in my leg muscles, and pain, being unusually tired, and not rested upon waking..Washing a sink full of dishes (I live alone) would put me in the bed for 3 days..

I would have sore aching muscles in my neck, across my shoulders the kind of pain and fatigue you would experience after hard physical labor of heavy lifting and such..

Also my face appeared flushed, like I was hot or had a fever..It was kinda like the shape of a butterfly, but to me it favored the pregnancy mask i had with my son..

Child birth triggered my condition, it started off with small, little things like, aching muscles, or sometimes flu like and pneumonia, and asthma problems..

You can request a complete Lupus Profile, which will be a simple blood test..I hope that this has helped you in some way.. At least go to www.WebMd.com and read about them and see if you have more of the problems listed, helped me..

You are not alone. If I didn't have to get up for work, I'd never leave my bed. That's usually where I spend my off day. If I get up to watch a movie with the kids, after about 15min my brain starts going numb. If you find out what is wrong, or what kind of meds can fix this, let me know (I have 6mo of laundry to do!)

You sound just like me, and I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Chronic fatigue syndrome 9yrs ago. You get "fibro fog" which is lack of concentration and forgetfullness, muscle weakness, pain at various places or pretty much everywhere, and exhaustion. This is a musculoskeletal syndrome. It can also have several other symptoms with it (anxiety, IBS, depression, Insomnia and several others). Ignore the Dr.s a lot of them can be massive jerks and think it's all in your head. Make an appointment with a rheumatologist. They usually know more about that kind of stuff. It'd be good to get checked for lupus too, insist that they do. Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be to be blown off and know there's something wrong. I'm 28 with 4 kids, but when I was diagnosed, I was 19 and single with no kids. So, it definitely wasn't the kids with me. Send me a message if you want more information or just need someone to vent to.

go back to your dr immediately and take a print out of what you just wrote...there could be many things that could explain what you're going through but some of the more serious that come to mind is MS...Multiple Sclerosis...the random weakness that comes and goes as well as the vision changes...you need to be seen as soon as possible...Do you know if you could have been bitten by a tick? Lyme disease is another possiblity...as well as chronic fatigue or mono.
Please get back to DR and if you don't feel that they are listening to you go to another doctor...not every doctor can specialize on every disease and you may need to find one that is more familiar with your symptoms.
Good luck

I dont know if i would worry you as much as some of these other posts. what kind of multivitamins are you on? I am annemic and i suffered a similar event.
My Doctor put me on Lexapro immediately. It was depression related and you will never how mental and emotional stress can manifest physically until it actually happens.
A doctor who just tells you it's the "normal" also deserves to have her license revoked. Any doctor who can not take the time to assist a concerned patient should not practice.
I am a firm believer in a holistic approach. especially when you have young children to care for. I would even say DETOX!!! Go to a healthfood store and ask for a detox kit. It's usually around $20, but after the cycle of detoxing all the toxins out of your liver and system, your energy level will be through the roof!! if you would like to chat my email is ____@____.com of luck sweetie!

have you checked into the possibility of chronic fatigue syndrome? a lot of people think that its an excuse for being lazy, but it is a real condition. i know a guy that has it and he will never be able to work because he can't afford to do anything about it. i remember reading about it quite a few years ago, but i don't remember what the treatment was. you might want to discuss it w/ your doctor, and if he/she won't listen, find one that will!

Despite what you doc says you need a complete blood work up, physical, including checks for diabetes, vit. (iron) deficiency, MS,or some other problem. I am an eye doctor and when a patient complains of blurred vision part of the time I first get concerned about diabetes but there are many other things that it can be. I am a mother of a 10 month old that still gets up 3x a night and I still make it through my day ok. (Not great, my I am not soo tired that it hurts)

There are several things I would have checked, by your general practice doc if you trust him, or an endocrinologist if you can get it. I would have your Thyroid checked, for Hypo and Hyper. I would also be checked for Dysautonomia ot POTS ( Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome.) There is much on the web about both of these, and thyroid conditions routinely are found after pregnancy and birth.
The legs randomly going out- sounds like POTS to me, as well as dizziness and blurry vision. I have this and ended up having surgery for chiari malformation, which has helped tremendously.
I do not think you are insane. Find a caring doc, who will run test, and get this figured out!

Well your doctor should be fired. You need to get a second opinion immediately. I suggest you go to UK hospital emergency room. They are the absolute best. Once you find out that it's not just your kids...how could anyone suggest something so stupid...then I suggest contacting a lawyer!!

I see you're in Louisville. we just moved from there two years ago. Who is your dr?! My sister has had fibro and chronic fatigue for over 15 years now and it took a decade to find a doctor that even BELIEVED in fibro and chronic fatigue. She got it when she had surgery - her surgeon operated when he had mono, gave it to her, she had an epstein bar mutation on her 6th(?) chromosome that mutated into the fibro and chronic fatigue. I'll see if I can't get her doctors' information for you. I wouldn't go to an ER, you'd be lucky to find a dr. there who would believe you, especially since you're a woman. They tend to brush women off as overworked, overtired, making things up, or imagining symptoms. That's why it took us ten years to find my sister a doctor. (btw, she's incredible now with treatment and some medicinal management...)

That said - have you considered that perhaps your pregnant? I've had all of these symptoms with pregnancy....but also with anemia (throughout my entire life). It could be fibro, but maybe not. Could be a thyroid problem...It could ALOT of things. Get a different doctor - get a good doctor. Maybe try a home pregnancy test? Get blood work!! But definitely see another one in a different office!

I'll email my mom and see if I can't find out my sister's doctors....

I have been there also. It could be that you are anemic. Also, if you have a nervess disorder or anxiety, that can also cause theese symptoms. Also, having a baby takes alot out of your mental and physical condition. It sounds as if your doctor isn't listening to you very well. I would find a nother doctor that would help me. They can do some test to make sure that it's nothing serious. They can give you some medication that doesn't affect your ability to take care of your children and family, but takes care of the anxiety and helps you sleep. You are not going crazy. I know how you feel and I have had mine taken care of and I'm doing much better now.

get a second opinion or tell your Dr. that you want a blood test asap.

Have you been eating enough? Sometimes when you're not drinking enough water or eating the right foods (healthier foods like chicken, veggies, fruits, not just breads & sandwiches) you can become weak; that's when I know I've not been eating very well for my body, but never that bad, so I would get blood work done just in case you need some medication to help you get back on track!

I agree with the previous poster about being checked for autoimmune diseases. You are at the prime age for some of these issues. I have Lupus and have dealt with several of the symptoms you described. If I were you, I'd start with my primary doctor and get basic bloodwork to rule out very simple things, and then insist on a referral to a Rheumatologist. There is a nationwide shortage of them and they are generally VERY busy. Stick to your guns until you get an answer. Being exhausted like you described is NOT normal, even with two little ones!

Good luck!

Please see a good physician in your area immediately. What you are describing is not the usual "mom" tired. You could be anemic (spelling?). They will usually ask that you not eat or drink after midnight and they'll do blood work. Make sure you use an office with in in-house lab and they can give you quick results on many of the items they'll be testing for. I used to have a problem with low blood pressure and was anemic and it was terrible. We got it under control, but you can't ignore it. Take care!!

A lot of mental illnesses can cause physical problems. You may not think there is a problem or maybe you know you feel bad more times than good (mentally) and just don't think anythind of it. See if your doctor can refer you to a psychiatrist and see what they think. If you live in the MS gulf coast area I can recommend some good ones.

Have your doctor check your heart and blood pressure. When I was pregnant with my son, I developed Congestive Heart failure. The doctors thought I was insane when I would complain of tiredness, headaches, vision problems and swelling. Eventually they did. It's called Peripartum Cardiomyopathy and Postpartum cardiomyopathy. Please have them check your heart, blood pressure, thyroid function and adrenal stress. YOU ARE NOT CRAZY. They are for not listening to you. Let me know

Please talk to your doctor again. There are times when fatigue causes physical symptoms but loss of grip strength, blurry vision, dizziness could be signs of something else. I think if you kept a symptom diary for 1-2weeks before your visit that could help your doctor decide if you need further workup.

Hi E.,

Did the doctor look into fibromyalgia? I have fibro and some of your symptoms sound just like mine. There is not test for fibromyalgia, but there is an exam that can be done to test for it. I would think that your doctor should do blood work to rule out other disorders and if he is unable to find anything, maybe he should consider the possibility of fibromyalgia.
