I have 3 boys of our own, I also a God daughter and two God sons. With 3 boys and a HUGE family my husbands side and mine, we usually try to do the Christmas shopping for just kids. Its a given I will get my God kids gifts question is this: my God daughter has 4 other siblings, my God sons have 2 other siblings.. do i buy for them as well?

GD Liliana- is 2 years old she has a 13 year old sister, 8 year old brother, 1 year old sister and a new born baby sister 1 month old.

GS Jordan & Isaiah are 10 and 8 years old. They have a 5 year old brother and a 1 year old sister.

There are some babies/teenager here that probably wont know the difference of Christmas presents or not. But what about the older kids, I mean how or do I just show up at their house with only presents for my God kids? what do i say when they ask where their presents are? My God daughters siblings all have the same God parents (their Aunt and Uncle) so either way she will get a present from them. She is the only one that isnt their God daughter. My God sons siblings don't have God parents... I DONT WANT TO HURT ANYONE'S FEELINGS.. but 3 god kids presents compare to buying 9 presents is a bit different! Money is always a issue around the holidays. We dont go crazy, but we do a bit of things around the holiday's not just presents, we have traditions (cuting down the tree in the Santa Cruz mtns, we go to Christmas in the park, Church functions). So what would you do....?

What can I do next?

I would do all or nothing. Maybe start buying a present every two weeks now so you wont feel the crunch soo bad around Christmas. Or shop at the Dollar stores.

This kind of situation is why I don't embrace the *idea* of Godparents. It tends to single kids out for preferential treatment. What would your boys think if someone showed up at your house with a gift for O. of them only?

I would buy for all or none.

For our God children, we buy them ornaments. They know that every year they get an ornament and they look forward to it. That is what my children get from their God parents also. I know that my kids wonder what type of ornament they are getting and it is usually a Hallmark ornament with the year on it. Very cool keepsake for them when they are older...

Can you have them put under the tree and opened before you join them for any celebration, then it would not be a big todoo about only one or two kids getting gifts from you.

I do not see why you need to purchase that many gifts for children during the holidays, imho gift giving even for kids needs to calm down in general, last year I let my sister spoil my son and it was a nightmare he got 5 large gifts from her and kept looking for the next one instead of his usual reaction of excitement and immediate play, taking almost all day to open presents (3-5 total). Typically my son only has one gift from a few family members and beyond that I ask for gift cards so we can go out and do things he enjoys like riding the thomas train in the mall ($20/mo fo unlimited rides) or going to the aquarium ect. It just upsets me to see greedy not greatful children on xmas including the year mine was greedy and ungreatful. Ok, I feel better.

I would only give a gift to your godchildren. The other kids also have godparents that will give them a gift.... so overall it works out evenly.
That is the way it was for me growing up with my siblings and cousins, etc. only got gifts from godparents. and then we did a kid name exchange for the rest since there are so many kids on either side of the family
