There are so many great Christmas books out there (I collect them!) One of our favorites (my son is 6, my daughter is 4) is "Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree". I very sweet, cute story. Enjoy!

My girls love Santa Kid. I am reading it to my preschool class and they really like it as well. It's by James Patterson. I love reading his adult books and he is just as good at writing children's books, except no scary parts.

I love the Little Golden Books 3 story collection of The Christmas Story, The Animal's Christmas Story and The Night Before Christmas. My 4 year old loved it last year and this year. Same for "How The Grinch Stole Christmas." We also love "Room For A Little One" -about the animals in the manger. It's really sweet.

My father bought us the Christmas Sweater by Glenn Beck for Christmas last year and it is a really good book. My son was three last year and he really enjoyed it. I do think he will enjoy it a little more as he gets older since it is more for kids a couple of years older. It has a good message.

Hi S., I can recommend two Christmas books that became beloved traditions immediately. The first was given to my children about 40 years ago and started a tradition that my children carry on with their children to this day. The book is "Santa Mouse" by Michael Brown and is available at all book stores. It is about a lonely little mouse that Santa 'adopts' to go with him each year on his sleigh. Santa Mouse wraps his tiny gift in yellow ribbon and puts it up in the tree. Searching for the little Santa Mouse gift each year became very special to my children & now my grandchildren. There is also a wonderful sequel, "Santa Mouse, Where Are You?", and we read both of them constantly throughout the Christmas season.
The second recommendation has only been around more recently and is called "The Elf on the Shelf". It is so endearing and quickly embeds itself in the heart of each child. The book (also available at B&N, etc.) comes with their own Elf on the Shelf to keep forever. The idea is that the child cannot touch this Elf or else he/she will loose their magic! The child gets to name their Elf, and every morning from now through Christmas, they hunt around their house to find their Elf on the Shelf. Before going to bed each night, the parents put the Elf in a different place, always being sure to have it out of the reach of the child. This book becomes integrated with your computer, and you go to the web site (www.elfontheshelf.com) and take magical rides through Santa's Village. You can register your Elf's name and do coloring and holiday games -- it is such a fun place. After Christmas, the parents see to it that their Elf disappears to a safe place until re-appearing next year in December. It's a wonderful book and has been used with my grandchildren to inspire good behavior this month, as the Elf reports back to Santa every day! I hope this is helpful, and I wish you and your family many years of traditions and happy memories! Take Care. E. Taft ____@____.com
