I would like to know if someone could tell me how to go about choosing a pre-school for my daughter. She will not be 3 until February and do not plan on enrolling her until next fall however, I would like to take this time to research schools. I am not sure where I can find the top rated schools in my area. I would love some insight into this. As I am sure everyone else feels, I just want the best for my child but I need to know which schools are the best. Thank you

Hi C.!

It might be too late at this point, but I had my son and now my daughter at the Early Childhood Development Center in Newark. They have a site on Roseville Ave and Mt. Prospect Ave in North Newark. My son started there when he was 3 yrs old. He is now 5 and can count to 100, knows all of his alphabet, can write all the number and letters, can write his name, and reade certain word. he can sound out short words like cat, hat, dog, etc. and write them out. I was very pleased and an looking forward to my daught going there this year now that she is 3 yrs old.

If you found a school, I am curious to know which you picked.

Hi C. - I think it is a great idea that you are looking into this now. As a teacher I realize what it is like trying to find the best school for your child. You can ask around to your neighbors as well as looking through your area newspaper. You can contact the schools in your area and ask about any "Open House" information or a private tour of the school. Look at what is offered for their programs ie - Early childhood, after school activities, Early morning programs. Take your time and look at one school at a time then lay out your options and go with the one that you feel meets your needs. I wish you luck and hope it works out!

When i looked, i looked at schools that were accredited, looked clean and bright and encouraged play. Look for stations for different activities, and ask about the schools general pphilosphy.

Hi C.,
I will recommend the pre-school my son went to. Parks Ave in Bergenfield N.J. It's a small school thats why I loved it there and my son was very happy. The student teacher ratio was great..Plus in the summer time during day camp he had swimmimg lessons and swim great..

Hi C., I dont know if this School is to far but its on Irvine Turner Blvd. in Newark the name of the school is Community Hills Early Learning Center. This is a real good school because they have teachers there to teach the children. My daughter went there for two years and now she is in kindergarden and her teacher is shock that she knows alot to only be in kindergarden. If you like you can give them a call to take a look at the school the number is ###-###-#### let me know if it works out.
