Hi Moms!

What is your opinion of chiropractic care? Can it really help things like allergies, menstruation, etc.? What are your experiences with it? I'm curious because I had a recent run-in with a chriopractor. I was seeking his nutrition services but he seemed to really want to push me to do chiropractic adjustments. I went ahead and did the first adjustment but other than seeing better out of my left eye, which is weird, I haven't noticed a difference. In fact, my occasional low-back pain seemed to be made worse by the adjustment. Anyway, just curious what your experiences are with it.

What can I do next?

I have been helped quite a bit with chiropractic care, especially if I combine it with massage. It takes a few days for me to feel better from it but hey, everyone is different. You can always try something else if it doesn't work for you.

I have had good and bad. The good ones say only every couple of months, or when you are feeling out of whack come in. The bad ones tried to push a 3x a week plan on me, and one other one did the adjustment wrong and I ended up with 2 bulging discs in my lower back.

It took me years to get up enough courage to go back to one because the pain from the bulges were so bad, I finally went to one that I got recommendations from 5 different people who I trusted. He has been awesome and has helped me beyond belief. I am ever so grateful to him.

You can not judge chiro care by just an adjustment or two. it takes many adjustments to undo the damage that has been done and to start on a better alignment. It took me just shy of a year going in a few times a week to really feel the benefits of care and now it is great...minus a crappy car accident...lol

My chiropractor is a miracle worker.

He's gotten me through my last pregnancy, migraines, sciatica, "mommy back", foot problems and sinus infections/issues.

I can't say enough about him.
Holistic care really does make sense. Most of the time we fail to realize how connected everything in the body is (ex: why stretching your rib cage can help with tight hip flexors....or adjusting your neck can help clear up your sinus infection).

If your chiro is willing to walk you through WHY he wants to do these things, KEEP HIM!

I think Chiro treatment is great and has been helpful to me. I do it in combination with massage therapy. It sure beats taking prescription pain medication and living on ibuprofen or other OTC products. Give it some time. Also, see if you can talke to some of this other patients and how they've benefited from his treatment.

I should introduce you to mine! I was interested in adjustments and he pushed his supplements! LOL

I was definitely helped for whiplash by my chiropractor and wouldn't consider them charlatans. I would beware of chiropractors who push a "plan" on you--like 3x weekly visits for 6 weeks.

My guy would adjust me, then say "wait a few days, see how that feels & let me know."

I think that chiropractic can help in many ways. I though was raised with a Napropath which moves bones by moving muscles instead of the other way around as muscles are much stronger than bones and will shift the bones right out of place again.

Currently I do a theraputic Chinese massage with someone who was trained in China as a TCM and that includes massage and chiro and others. He's amazing and has helped me and over 20 of my friends in incredible ways. I'd try that first or a napropath which is very similar.

I've had it help with both, and seen it help many other people with these and other problems. It's also helped my kids and other kids I know with asthma, ear infections, bedwetting, and colic.

There's a thing called retracing, where sometimes you will hurt for a while before getting better, it's because you are retraining the spine to be in its proper position after sometimes years of misalignment, and the surrounding muscles can get "angry" then too. Ice after adjustments,10-15 minutes will help with that. The nervous system in your spinal cord controls all bodily function, it's important to keep it in line!

Anything that hasn't gotten better has been helped with acupuncture or craniosacral therapy. We do get sick less often and less severely than others I know who don't get adjusted, and it shortens the time we are sick if we get adjusted when it's coming on.
