We've been giving our daughter Yo Baby Yogurt for a while. She's now 10.5 months. It's not very thick. We've been putting fruit it in so it's not so watery. Is there a big difference nutritionally if we went to kids yogurt?

yo baby is much healthier than kids check the sugar and other ingredients. I have 4 kids and still don't even give my 8 year old the children's stuff you might as well give them a lollipop! Stonyville and oberwise are "adult yogerts" but lower in sugar and healthier.

YoBaby is thinner because there are no animal gelatins in it.
I have not looked at kids yogurt, but I know that if you are feeding yuor baby dairy you want to feed the full fat versions of stuff. I believe the YoBaby is made with whole milk. If the kids is also whole milk it is probably fine.
At that age, we bought whole milk plain yogurt from Stoneyfield Farms. I'm not sure if it has gelatin in it or not, but I never thought that yo baby was runny either. (It is yummy!) You could mix it with baby fruit, although my kids didn't seem to need the sweetness until they were much older.
I would buy a plain whole milk yogurt, preferably Stonyfield or other brand that does not have the starches and gelatins as thickeners, and mix in my own fruit for sweetness.
Food companies just rename stuff as "Kid Friendly" as a marketing gimick so they can make more money.
I have only ever fed my daughter Brown Cow cream top yogurt, plain or vanilla. You can get it at Jewel and most grocery stores. I personally think YoBaby is a waste of money and just a gimmick. Any plain whole milk yougurt will be good for them. Don't stir it too much, this will also break it down and make it more runny.
I think the only difference is Yo Baby is organic and most kids' yogurts aren't. You could try stirring Cheerios into the yogurt, or my son loves granola in it. It makes it a lot easier to stick to the spoon.
my daughter would begrudingly eat yobaby, but never finish it. i investigated a few other choices that have turned out much better for us.
yoplait just came out with a kid's yogurt that is made with a higher fat milk, but not whole, and has a low sugar level (i tasted it and can't eat it myself due to the lower sweetness, but my daughter loves it.)
horizon also has a kids line of yogurt (i've only seen it at whole foods) which is a middle fat level and lower in sugar. she likes this too.
she also likes the yoplait custard style yogurt, especially banana . they are certainly not low fat, but they are pretty sweet.
Yes, there is a difference. Until 2 I think they need the extra fat that yo baby gives them b/c it's made with whole milk. The kids stuff is made with skim or 2 %. Stick with yo baby. Or you can just buy a tub of whole milk yogurt, it's a little cheaper that way.
Dannon(I think??) has a new yogurt out. It has Dora or Blue on the package and the package is yellow. It has less sugar and DHA. I started buying that one rather than the yobaby.

It is fine to switch to other yogurts as long as your little girl can handle the consistency. As far as ingredients, there are good yogurts out there and bad. Nutritionally, you should go with a whole milk yogurt that is not sweetened with artificial sweeteners or high fructose corn syrup. One brand we found for our kids is called Brown Cow. You can find it at some Jewels and Whole Foods. It is sweetened with maple syrup and is really tasty. Just check your ingredients. Even a lot of kids brands are full of unhealthy ingredients. I am sure it is fine to feed them the kid's yogurt, but you will miss out on the benefits of whole milk. Yo Baby, from what I know, is made with whole milk, and you should give your baby whole milk until they are 2. Now, if your little one drinks a lot of milk, then it is probably ok to go with the other yogurts because she is already getting a lot of fat cells through the milk she drinks. Fat cells are needed to help them produce more brain cells, etc. at this age. But, you certainly are not harming her by giving her regular kid's yogurt.
Yo baby is made with whole milk. We used it until our kids turned 2. To make it thicker, we mixed it with baby oatmeal
The big kid yogurt is not from whole milk and it is suggested that kids under two take whole milk product. I would suggest to continue to use yo baby till 2 years.
We've only given regular whole milk plain yogurt to our daughter for the past 6 months. She's almost a year old. If we want to thicken it up, we add cereal to it. That way she learned to like yogurt w/o all of the sugar.
I didn't read the other responses, but the kids yogurt is also loaded with sugar. I'm not sure you'd want your little one having that. YoBaby also does not have a lot of the gelatins, etc that the other yogurts have. I would stick with the YoBaby and maybe mix it with Oatmeal if you want it a bit thicker. It's what we do with our baby and he absolutely loves it.
Try just the PLAIN big tubs of yogurt - we did spend the big extra for organic kind- the key is the plain plain plain - because it has no suger and all the vitamins that the kid and baby yogurt has needed for baby - we used it and still do for everything - my son is now 4. we mixed it with fruit, puried veggies that we couldnt get him to eat or just plain with cereal or raisens. plus it is much cheaper and the whole family can eat it as a healthy alternative
