I am looking for a hair salon for my two daughters. My four year old has had her hair cut a few times already but this will be the first cut for my two year old.

I am hoping for a kid friendly shop but one that is inexpensive...we all know how budgets can be! My two year old has a short attention span and moves around a lot so I need a place that can keep her still! Also, we are on the southwest side of Lexington.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I took my daughter, who is 3, to Fun Cuts off of Richmond Road on Locust Hill Dr. It is very similar to the other kids place mentioned. They get to pick a car, tractor, etc. to sit in and get to pick a movie to watch. When finished they receive a balloon and lollipop. There is also a play area for kids to use while waiting. It was the first time someone other than myself had cut her hair and she did great. It cost us $13.95 including tax and everything. The lady that cut my daughter's hair said the only time you really needed to make an appointment would be on Saturdays and right after school gets out in the afternoon. We just walked in and the stylist started on her immediately.

I have heard rave reviews about Cookie cutters, but was woefully disappointed with the job they did on my son's hair. I take him to my hairstylist at Salon ASA which is off Southland drive and my hairstylist charges me $10 versus the $14 I was charged at cookie cutters, not a bargain for a little boy's hair who has to be cut once a month! I think you are more paying for the atmosphere than anything with Cookie Cutters, and I was just not impressed, all the girls at ASA have children of their own and are great with kids, keeping them calm, etc.

I take my son to Cookie Cutters at Todds Road and Man O' War. They have a slide, balloons and suckers for the kids, they get to pick out a movie to watch to distract them while they're getting their haircut and they can pick what kind of seat to sit in (plane, barbie car, train, etc...). If you haven't been there you should go, it's about as kid friendly as you can get.
