Childproofing Drapes?

I looked around my family room today and realized that the only reason why I keep an Ultra Saucer in one corner and a Pack N Play in the other is to keep my 1-year-old (not yet walker) away from the drapes. Should I just keep them there for another year, take the drapes down, or is there a way to child proof them? I would like to get that stuff outta the family room (pack n play, saucer), my son doesn't even use them anymore.

What can I do next?

Hi A.,

Fix your room like you want it.

Teach your baby not to mess with the drapes if she starts to mess with them.

Good luck. D.

I am a firm believer in 'if something is not being used--toss it!" (or better yet, bless someone else with the items) If your concern is the safety/strangulation factor of the cords on the drapes, by all means get the cord child proofing thingamajigs that hold the cords up high...if it is a matter of keeping sticky hands off of the fabric, I would probably replace them with a more child-friendly fabric til he's older.....

Options yes take down the drapes,
or try your son he might be old enough now to leave them alone, if you are worried just about the cord that hangs down i would definately loop that up to avoid strangulation.
Do you have some other furniture you could put there, re-arrange the couch or endtable or something?

At 3 i would think he could leave them alone, but i wouldn't trust him at it right way, be with him in that room for the first week or two and test him out.

If he doesn't use the stuff, i say pack it away! Get your space back... i think he would appreciate the room to roam/play even more.
