Hello! I just moved to Austin from Keller and was wondering if anyone knew of a childcare facility that will accept a child with Autism? My son Kaden is 3 1/2 yrs old and has been attending the I.S.D.'s P.P.C.D. program in Keller. But know that it's summer and, well, WE'VE MOVED, I'm on the search for a daycare center for the summer months until the school year starts again.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks so much you guys!! The reference info was so helpful! I will be following up with Capitol City on Monday and have been buried in all the helpful links that were sent to me! For the Summer I found this SMALL unique totally Austin daycare! They have a whopping 30 something kids in a layed back, comfortable and personal atmosphere. I spent almost an hour there with both boys talking to the Assistant Director, Leslee. I have to say, I have never seen so many kids with smiles on their faces at one time! Kaden and Maddox both loved the place. Kaden immediately started exploring and interacting with the teacher and other kids. OH, the name of the place is Miss Julies! I'm really happy about the place!

Hi, S.
I provide part time play therapy at a school in Austin called The Capitol School.
Their phone # is ###-###-####. It is a preschool for kids in preschool through third grade.
They specialize in children with language and learning differences.
Some of the kids have diagnoses all along the autism spectrum. Give them a call or look up their website. I think their summer program is full, but maybe next fall...
Good luck and welcome back to Austin!

I was going to post the link to the Austin Resources, but looks like it was already posted. :o) I too have a 3 year old with autism, and he does not have a summer program this year. On the list is also a list of summer camps, etc. A lot of them are for children over 5 which has been a big problem for us. I plan to just keep him as busy and structured as possible. I am going to do a schedule much like the one he is accustomed to at school and hope that works. If I find anything I'd be happy to email you to let you know. Feel free to contact me as well if you have any questions. :o) I'll post my info below. Best of luck

Hi S.,

My son attends Stepping Stone Day Care, his particular school has an autistic child that is in one of the pre-k class. So, of course they don't specialize in autistim, but they do accept them there.
Not sure if that is what you are looking for, but hope it helps!
