Childcare Dilemma... Please Help!

So I have a beautiful one-month-old daughter who I DONT want to leave but pretty much have no choice but to go back to work. Have been trying to find a legit WAH gig with no luck (and even tried the wellness company some ladies here talk of, but it got too expensive to keep trying to make $$ off of it).

We had some good childcare arrangements but I found out that they fell through a few days ago. :( Our work schedule is too screwy for a traditional daycare center (evenings and end-of-month slavery) or even for one of us to work a graveyard shift. Neither of us is comfortable with letting a complete stranger stay in our home while we're not there, so our only option is an in-home childcare.

Does anyone know of one that would keep a kid possibly to 9pm and/or before 7am?

ETA- We live in allen and work in irving; I would even be willing to work another job that either has more traditional hours during the week (8-5 or thereabouts) or even get a PT/weekend job if I had to. Unless someone has some good legit WAH suggestions! ;)

What can I do next?

Have you tried cutting back on spending through coupons? I wish I had learned about all the tricks when I was working full-time because I would have paid off our mortgage or saved money so I could stay home full-time. I quit my job a few years ago and started a Web consulting business (something I've been doing as an employee for 15 years). It took a while to get it going so I turned to couponing so I could avoid going back to work for someone else. I cut our credit card bills for groceries and personal care/medications by more than 60%. It's a part-to-full-time job keeping up with all the sales and matchings, but it might be an option for you to try while you look for for a PT or other job.

I was bringing in 60% of our family income when I left my job, and my daughter has huge medical bills, so it was a bit of a risk for us, but it's worked out okay. I am making very limited money from consulting, but only because I haven't had time to work as much as I need to (too many doctor visits for my daughter, etc.).

If you are not familiar with the coupon stuff, check out couponmom.com, thegrocerygame.com (do the free trial after you save up a few weeks' worth of coupon inserts), hotcouponworld.com, and afullcup.com to get started.

Good luck!

The best work at home positions my friends have found are medical transcriptionist. A job isn't a sure thing, but I know many single moms who do it and are able to afford their own home and have cars that they can pay for, so they must make some money.

I write books, it is a stay at home job but not an industry I would wish on anyone. Very hard to get established and frustrating as can be.

Have you considered an au pair? They live in your home so you don't have to get the baby ready to go out and they can work any hours. I think their weekly limit is 45 hours though. The cost seems pretty reasonable compared to day care.

I have just started working with Dove Chocolate Discoveries - giving chocolate sampling parties. It is minimum investment *$149.00) and easy to do - you don't make a huge amount of money maybe $100 to $200 per party, but if you do a few a week it adds up. Drop me a line if you want to know more.
