Hello J., my name is T. and I am going though a separtion with my husband and was just wondering if you or your friend can help me though this. Please e-mail back and i will give more details.
Hi,
My friend is going through a divorce. She will be getting Alimony and Child-support. She will need to put her kids in daycare at some point. Is the husband responsible for 1/2 of the daycare, over and above the child support?
Thanks!
J. in Macomb
Thanks for all the responses!!! I am forwarding them on to my friend. This is a really hard time for her "obviously" and whatever I can do to help, like get information like this is great! She hasn't worked in 8 years, so this is going to be rough! Especially with the economy the way it is. Keep on the any advice and I'll give it to her. This is why I LOVE this web-site, terrific lady's like you :)

it willdepend on if your friend takes the husband in front of the child support board and requests payment. a few free sources your friend might want to try out for free preschool and child care are : headstat-###-###-####,great start i dont know the number but call the intermediate school district number and they will put you in touch with great start. she can also try contacting health and human service office for help paying
Just a side note. My husband is paying child support and along with what he pays - he also pays toward child care ( it is a percentage of his income). He was told that in September of this year ( when the child returns to school) after the child returns 12 year old - the mother will no longer be allow to collect for any child care. So, there must be an age cut off for this support.
If she is incurring child care expenses to go to school or work then the court will order that he pay a portion of the actual costs in addition to child support. The amount he pays would be a percentage based on his income vs. her income. If she doesn't have child care expenses now then she will have to request a support modification through the Friend of the Court when she starts having to pay for it.
It depends on what the divorce degree says. I hope she thinks of asking for that.
