Because our food is far less nutritious than it was a generation ago, everyone is nutrient-deprived. No matter how "well" you eat, you cannot get enough of every necessary vitamin, mineral, phytonutrient, amino acid, etc. without eating 4,000 calories a day. Really - a panel of physicians, food scientists and nutrition experts designed a diet to give you everything you need, and for adults, it was 4,000 calories (which the experts realized was impossible). Food is grown for fast ripening but that means it's not on the vine that long, and it doesn't get all the elements. Plus the soil is depleted and the fertilizers don't have everything we need, just enough to make the fruit or vegetable plump and nice looking even if it's empty of nutrients.
The AMA recommended comprehensive supplementation for every man woman and child about 10 years ago, and said liquid supplementation is the best. Studies show that powder mixed in water at the time of consumption is better than pre-mixed liquids (which degrade over time). Selecting a few key nutrients is pointless - it gives what the food gives you - limited nutrients without all the other nutrients. Every vitamin/mineral needs many other partners in order to function effectively.
Any supplement should be from a company that is based in the US and is a member of the Council for Responsible Nutrition. It can be a direct sales company - there is no value to something just because it's sold in a "health food" store. Frequently, those products are made by just a few companies in other countries, then sold here to a bunch of companies who just put their own labels on them. The clerks frequently no nothing about products - they just sell everything and anything. And anything sold in a supermarket or health food chain has been through many, many hands - and all of those levels get paid (manufacturer, distributor, trucking company, ad agency, food broker, etc. plus of course the overhead for the store such as salaries,, workers' comp, utilities, rent, etc.). So they are marked up in price way beyond their value.
Your child's immune system is in the same situation as most other people in the U.S. - reduced. We have epidemic rates of kids with "adult" diseases such as diabetes, high cholesterol, allergies, and so on. You can boost the immune system and clean out the allergies and not be the victim of these problems. Happy to help with more info if you like.
I thought I posted this, but don't see it here....sorry if this is a repeat. Does your daughter take vitamins? There is great science behind the line we use for our family: www.melaleuca.com/oligo. Feel free to contact me for more info. Good luck!
i would check for black mold. my aunt was always really sick with flu and cold like symptons, headaches, etc. come to find out there was black mold in the school she worked in. it was a brand new school, too. anyways, once she quit, she was fine after a bit of getting the mold out of her system.
Many things will not show up on blood work. I'd suggest a visit to an acupuncturist to boost the immune system. Look for an american practitioner who has a Mac after their name. Chiropractic can also help by taking pressure off the nerves so that the immune system can function properly.
The other thought I have is to add 3 things: a good probiotic, a good food based multivitamin(from the health food store, not a drug or grocery store), and elderberry extract.
If you have questions about what I posted, feel free to contact me.
Allergies? There are types of allergies for spring, summer, and fall. In the winter, she may be affected by the type of heat you have. I have to use a humidifier in all our bedrooms in the winter because if I don't we get stuffy, headaches, and I've even woke up with a bloody nose because it was so dry in the house. What does her doctor say? does he/she feel your daughter is sick too often or is she just your typical 5 year old when it comes to being sick?
