Hello moms,
I have a funny request to do. I have a MacPro and my son,who is 18 months old, loves to play with the games I have for him in the computer. However, twice, He has pulled two keyboard's keys out. I need to hear, if any of you have had the same problem with your computer and child, and if there is any childproof keyboard in the market that young children cannot break.
Thanks in advance, to those who respond to it.

Wireless keyboard. I have one and they work fantastic. Kids can't break what they can't get ahold of. :D When you aren't using it, put it up someplace high. I put mine on top of the bookshelf when not in use, or even if I'm going to the bathroom.

There are two things that you might want to look into. There is the computer games for the computer that have a special keyboard that fits over your keyboard and there are also these keyboards that are rubber and you can roll them and fold them and thy lay flat on the table. They are nice since there are no keys that can be taken off also if something gets spilled on them they are easy to clean.

Hi L.,

Your child needs to learn to respect your things. Do not let your child play on your computer.

He needs to learn boundaries of what is his and what is others.

Good luck. D.

I haven't tried it but I've read that you can put sarran wrap over your keyboard to help keep food, etc out. That might be a cheap fix to try first. Seems like it might stop him from pulling up keys.

I've heard V-Tech has a good kids' mouse and keyboard.

L.,
I know they used to sell molded plastic keyboard covers. Haven't seen them in awhile, but it might be a cheap fix if you can find O..
I have to say my new iMac keyboard seems pretty indestructible as far as pulling the keys off when my son is on it---now the Smart Mouse ball getting gunked up is another story!

I believe there are clear plastic keyboard protectors--they allow the keys to be pressed but keep gunk out--try googling or an Apple store or online. I ought to get one to prevent my spilling coffee in mine!

Best of luck.

as far as playing on the computer goes, we have a game for our son (i think it's fisher price) that the "keyboard" for the kid fits over the normal keyboard. you just run the program and it's all types of games and learning for them. he loves it. we were looking into the V-Tech someone else mentioned too just because he seems to be getting too old for this one. but 18 months should be the perfect age for the fisher price one. and it's reasonably priced.

As far as the poster that mentioned that they need to respect your things, they're just trying to imitate what you are doing in my opinion. if they see you on it, they'll want to do it too. if they want to play on the computer, get them a game and let them play! i can't believe how much my son learned on the computer and he's only 2 1/2!

Hi L.,
I know they make molded keyboard covers that allow you to use the keyboard, but it keeps stuff out. It would probably keep little fingers out too. I'm not sure where you can get one, but I'm sure if you google it, you will find one somewhere.
We used to use one at a workplace I used to work at because of a high dust enviroment.
