Child Care...please Help!

Hello
From my subject title I guess you can tell I'm a bit desperate! My son is 18 mos old and recently began daycare (approx. 4 weeks ago) after being with Grandma during the day while me and the hubby are at work. I've learned a few things about this current daycare center that, frankly, I don't like. I am looking to move him...very soon...but want this decision to be a great one to avoid having to move him again.
The current facility has a "no pick up" policy for his age group...this is absurd to me! My son is very attached to me and I knew he would take some time adjusting to the new environment...part of this comforting process is to nurture, pick up, and soothe...I don't think he's getting the nurturing there so we need to move him asap.
Does anyone know of an excellent child care center in the Essex County NJ (near the Oranges) or Passaic County (near Clifton) area? I'm looking for a place that feels like a home away from home and not a business...thanks!!

What can I do next?

Even though they have a no pick up policy, that may not equal your child not getting nurtured. They may just sit and hug or offer other means of encouragement and nurturing. I would check into what alternatives they offer first before moving him. I wish I knew of some daycares in your area.

yes, I know of two places. One is a woman who watches children in her house, she is wonderful. I can't say enough about her. Her name is Lina, she lives in West Orange and her number is ###-###-####. I've sent all three of my kids to her house. Then once they got to be 2 1/2 or 3 I've sent them to Strawberry Hill pre school in Livingston. Wendy the owner is great! They number there is ###-###-####

If you can make it all the way to Rutherford (just east of Clifton), The Children's Place is excellent. They specialize in babies (infant - 3 years old only) and I kept my son there even when I got a job in a different town because I liked it so much.

Good luck!

Though I haven't used them myself, I have three friends that currently put their children in The Little School in Clifton, and I cannot imagine any of them putting their children in daycares that are not very nurturing. Not sure how "homey" they are though....
I know they'll take 18 months because one friend has her 12 months old (and her 3 1/2 year old) there. And they are reasonably priced as well.
