Well here in Hawaii it is about 1000 every 2 weeks for a child that age... of course we also have to pay for 6.50 gallons of milk and ground beef is 3.50 to 4.00 a pound.
And people wonder why i stay at home....
Well, it depends. Are you talking about daycare? If so, daycare's in my area (Ohio) charge about $28-$30 a day. I was going to do daycare, but I found a reliable sitter to come to my house and I pay her $25 a day. Good luck.
I go to a home daycare and pay 172.50/week. I'm looking at a center that charges 145/week.
in the chicagoland area the rate is anywhere from $190 on up for an infant. once they hit 2 years old it goes down a little bit but by the time they are older the rates have increased.
I stay at home for other reasons, but it's scary to think...and I've done the math...that even though I could make good money working, the kind of child care I would be WILLING to put my children in would take so much of that money, I think you really have to evaluate if what you have AFTER that, and AFTER taxes, is worth being away from them so long.
If you make enough money to make it worthwhile, I personally would check into a qualified and WELL trusted sitter...they are cheaper.
Day care centers charge an enormous amount. I paid around $600 a month for an infant. I had an excellent sitter who charges $2.50 an hour.
In Oklahoma child care centers get between $25 and $35 a day on infants, depending on their STAR rating and certifications. Also the county they are in makes a huge difference. In rural counties child care is cheaper and in metro areas it is the most.
It depends on where in Atlanta you are and what you want. For a decent, licensed and educational daycare center, you'll pay 1000-1500 per month. For personal nanny care, it's going to cost between $2000 and $3000 per month -and it will also depend on if you're paying "under the table" or having to take out taxes, etc. For babysitting you can get experienced adults for $12-$15 per hour and sometimes for $10 per hour. Teenagers often get a bit less. As your child ages, it gets a little cheaper. I have a 2 year old who is in a great pre-school in Va-Highlands for $825 a month -and that's quite a bargain! Some centers are affiliated with the Y or other entities and receive subsidies, so they're not quite as expensive. You can also find 1/2 day preschools and moms morning out programs at many churches where they go a few half days per week and it's very economical.
Knowing how much parents pay in areas other than yours is not much help. The rates can be quite different depending on what part of the country and in what city you live.
here in Memphis, my son is six months and the average cost for daily, full-time daycare ranges from $450-650 or even more, at the nicer churches. If you're talking about a mother's or parent's day out program, for example, I pay $265 a month for MTW from 9-2. There's a weekly charge, but you get a discount if you pay by the month - many places do. i imagine in ATL it may be a bit more, but there were good child care places that charged less than $500 a month for full-time. any less than that, and you were in the ghetto, bad ghetto! so you don't want to use someplace scary! stay where you are comfy.
