I am desperately looking for a new pediatrician for my kids who is *FOR* extended nursing. I have gotten some good dr.s from other mammas on other sites, but the thing is, I am on medicaid/kidcare. It is so hard to find a good ped. that accepts kid care. Any help would be greatly appreciated from the very bottom of my heart. I have been searching and calling for over 3wks now, to no avail.
I am a pharmaceutical rep who calls on pediatricians who accept KidCare! Try any of the pediatricians at Ravenswood Medical Physicians Group at 1945 West Wilson. I don't have their phone number. Let me know if you have any luck.
I am not certain that he will take your insurance, and he is in lincolnwood and skokie, not the city, but our pediatrician has been great so far. He is totally okay with extended nursing, mine is 21 months and still at it! His name is Dr. Myron Singer. The phone at the skokie office is ###-###-####. Try Evelyn Figueroa at UIC Family Medicine. She's a family doc with a young (under age 2) child of her own - I know she nursed him for at least a year, and I got the impression that she was very much pro-breastfeeding. I quite like her, and since she's a family practice doc, she can see you too, if you choose. She's very interested in women's health and delivers babies, too.
I'm assuming that the docs at UIC accept kidcare/medicare, but you'd have to double check.
Dr. Stillings is with Ravenswood Physicians group that was mentioned in the first post. (at 1945 W Wilson) She is wonderful! I'm not sure about the nursing aspect, both of my children were on formula but she is so helpful with everything. She also has office hours at 4211 N. Cicero.
Are the suburbs okay. I have a friend who is a doctor at Lutheran General. I know the practice that he was a resident for there takes kidscare. you can send me a message if you are interested.
Our pediatrician accepts Kidcare. His name is Charles Crotteau and he's in family practice at Advocate Family Practice near Wilson and Ravenswood. I have liked all the doctors and nurses that we've seen at the office, but I have not seen all of them. Dr. Crotteau is super nice and was really encouraging about nursing. I nursed till my son was 18 months, and I met a nurse in the office that nursed till her son was 3. The office number is ###-###-####. Feel free to email me if you have more questions. I should say, too, that their office is busy, so there's usually a little wait.
The name of my pediatrician is Sarah Vergese, she has two locations, I go to the one near Rush Hospital and I am not quite sure where the other location is. She is a great doctor and cares so much about the children she cares for. She has taken me as late as 8pm at night, she's wonderful and she does accept kidcare. Give her a call and meet with her, when we were picking a pediatrician we just happen to stop in her office and she fit us in that moment to talk to us. I have no idea if my pediatrician accepts Kidcare, but I love Town and Country Pediatrics! Our ped is Dr. Anne Wyman. She is great with infants, and she is all for nursing as long as you want. Their website is www.townandcountrypeds.com Good luck!
