I don't have any "invention" ...just wanted to say WAY TO GO MOM! Takes a good mom to know you can't "change" this habit right now but are making it work for everyone!

Happy to say, the camo bandana idea worked out great. I bought a 2 pack at the dollar store for $2.50. I cut them into 4 strips each. I tied two of the strips together in a knot about 3/4 of an inch from end of fabric. That was the middle, chew medallion. Then about and inch up each side I tied another knot, then tied it on him this morning right at collar length. He loved it and I didn't even have to tell him what it was for. It went straight into his mouth! It was enough fabric to make 4 necklaces for a couple bucks. I love it when a plan comes together. Opps, forgot a question. What's the last brilliant, necessity is the mother of invention thing you have created?
Victoria, that's brilliant. I love doing that type of simple, but very useful project. That's going on - my one of these days - craft list. Thanks yall for all the encouragement. I was worried if I stated my son was a chewer that I was going to get tons of medical advice warning me of aspbergers and autism. I thinks it's a normal quirk of childhood. Sometimes a chewer is just a chewer.

Wow! Missed your original post....but what a great idea. Wish I knew about that years back. I had a shirt chewer as well. Used to drive me bonkers! LOL
Awesome - I am so copying you - my 5 year old doesn't chew all the time, but he does like to chew. He recently ruined a phonics velcro letter S by chewing on it. :)
YAY! So glad that worked out. Now my only concern is ..... that you are saying "this behavior is okay son." Like you are encouraging it. If you don't like his chewing, be sure to say so and say something like "I don't like that you chew on your things like you do, but if you gotta, well at least chew on this and not your shirts!"
Your question: Can't think of the last thing I had to create. I guess maybe the Superman belt I made out of yellowish fabric at Halloween. It wasn't 'necessary' for me, but my son was so happy and he dresses as Superman at least once or twice a week. He never forgets to put on the belt.
