We're going to be in the market for a new vehicle soon (or slightly used) and I've been looking at the Chevy Equinox. Any comments? What do you love? What do you hate? Did you buy new or used? Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone for your responses! Sounds like if we do go with the Equinox, we should get a newer model with the V6. I'm hoping my trusty Malibu has a few months left in her, though! :)

I have an 06 equinox. I do like it. We wanted something a bit bigger than a car with 2 kids (3 and 4 months), but i didnt want a van yet. It isn't as roomy as i thought it would be. Trying to travel with 2 kids and everything that comes with them fills the vehicle up fast. I have a friend who has a Honda Odessy and i really like that. I think then next vehicle i get will be a van because it is very roomy and it can seat 8 but the seats move down so you have a ton of storage room when travling. Dont know if you have kids or not, but the equinox is nice just hard to travel with. I have also had a problem with the wiring harness on the drivers side door needing to be replaced (was told that was a common problem, but not really sure), and after a year of having it i seem to be getting worse gas milage. I still really like it, but would reccomond a van probably if you have kids.

We bought a 2010 Chevy Equinox LTZ in March and I absolutely love it! I love everything about it. There isn't anything I hate. Even my husband (who is 6'4") fits very comfortably. That is unusual for him in a smaller size SUV. It gets pretty good gas mileage for its size too. I think we have been getting about 23mpg locally and we have the V6. If you get a 4 cylinder the mileage will be a little better.

My parents bought their 07 Equinox new. Although my parents love it, I don't care to drive it or be in it at all. I think the seats are totally uncomfortable (not talking about the leather or cloth, but the seat itself) - they feel like bench seats. It is difficult to pack things into the cargo space too because the rear glass window doesn't allow for much clearance at the top (although it looks like it would). Plus, as the PP mentioned, it has a horrible blind spot. Personally, I like the Honda SUVs better....

My husband's employer bought several as company cars - so far they are well liked, but the gas mileage is pretty horrible (worse than our Sequoia).

My parents have one (2005) that they bought new. Its very roomy, has lots of great trunk space.

Dislikes:
- Has a bit of a blindspot on the front drivers side because of the roof support.
- All of the door and window controls (2005 style) are on a center console, not the doors

If they were buying it again, I would insist on the All-wheel version. Mom bought the front wheel drive version. Its very light weight and has some traction issues on hills in the winter.
