It depends. Chest x-ray can show things like an enlarged heart or thickening of the heart muscle. An EKG can detect rhythm issues. My son's heart defects were found through a echocardiogram. They can also detect heart issues with a pulse/ox monitor. Hope you get good results:)

ETA: what kind of job are you going for that they are doing colonoscopies and chest Xrays and EKGs?!?!?!?!?
____________
You mean - HEART issues, right? :)

EKG

A chest XRAY will just show if you have an enlarged heart.

The best would be a sonogram (electrocardiography) of your heart - that will show the blood pumping through all four locations and see if you have a valve that is "flappy" and it will also show any defects and -myoptothies you might have.

An EKG measures heart function. A chest x-ray looks at the bone structure and cam identify fluid in lungs or if lungs are collapsed.

Ask your doctor these questions. Ask why certain tests are ordered, what are they looking for, what results are expected.

It depends on what, exactly, the doctor is concerned about. Does this someone have a doctor taking care of them who has ordered tests? If so, I'm sure the doctor knows which test to order.

wow!! that must be some job you are applying for!

I agree with Queen, the doctors should know what they are doing.

It would help if you stated what the doctor's were looking for. If they heard a murmur while doing a typical stethoscope chest listen, then an echocardiogram would be the way to go, I would suspect.

Congrats on passing the colonoscopy!! I bet that was nerve-wrecking!

Chest x-rays actully show a lot more than fluid and bones. They can show masses that are in the upper cavity of your body signaling other testing to be done.

I'm concerned about your barely passing the EKG. Do you mean because you were nervous? Or there was an issue. If you had an issue your next step should be a cardiologist ASAP and an echo-cardiogram.

I hope all is well and good luck with the job!!

What do you mean when you say you barely passed the EKG? Is there an issue with your heart or not?

I was having an irregular heart rhythm. I had a chest x-ray as part of a complete health exam. The x-ray was not related to my heart. I had an EKG which showed some variation from what could be considered normal. I don't think one passes or fails such an exam. It's just one step in making a diagnosis. Next, I had an electrocardiam which showed that I did not have heart disease. The irregular heart rhythm is benign.

I suggest you take any tests the doctor recommends.
