I've been getting these horrible chest cramps don't know if I turned the wrong way or what but they hurt like nothing else. Has anybody else had this happen to them if so what made it better? I've stretched, took an advil and tried to just relax my muscles but man oh man does it hurt!

What can I do next?

Okay, before I say anything else, look up symptoms of a heart attack and talk to your doctor. That said, I have horrible chest pains/cramps that feel as if someone has punched me really hard right in the chest. Horrible pain that takes my breath away if I move the wrong way. My dr. seems to think it's connected with my acid reflux. I have been under a terrible amount of stress and had been having issues with my acid. I started taking Prevacid and haven't had the issue since (only been a month.)

Better safe than sorry ... go to the DOCTOR. Heart disease is the #1 killer of women and is frequently overlooked or misdiagnosed.

For more info, go to www.goredforwomen.org and read the stories of women of ALL ages with NO prior medical history of heart problems who dealt with heart disease or stroke. Like one person said in their account, "if I only had a dollar for every person who told me I was too young to have this problem, i'd be rich".

Do your family a favor and go to the doctor ASAP.

Does it sting when you breathe in deeply? I once had Plurasy. It has to do with the lining between your lungs and ribs. I thought I was having a heart attack. I would call your doctor or visit the walk in clinic!

I recently had horrible chest pains and was told it was pleurisy, that is an inflammation of the lining of your lungs and chest. The Dr. told me to take 3 ibuprofen every 4-6 hrs for a couple of days and I should feel better. It took 2 days of the ibuprofen but I did finally start to feel better. I also tried to keep moving, even though it hurt like a son of a gun. I got the pleurisy after being on back to back antibiotics and steroids for a sinus infection that turned into a upper respiratory infection. Then I got bronchitis right after from not being able to take a full breath and bacteria settled in my lungs.
A girl at my work had horrible chest pains and said she felt like she was going to die and she went to the ER and they were stress and anxiety caused.
I would call the dr. or nurse just to let them know what is going on and they can track it in your chart and they may have some other suggestions for you.

Yep and then you worry about it being *real* chest pains. Did you do any activity recently that may have used or strained these muscles? How much caffiene do you drink? Too much can cause inflammation of the chest wall. The pain is usually resolved by taking anti-inflammatory meds and cutting back. Just thought I would pass that along. Hope you feel better soon!!

Hi S.,

Heart, lung, gas or either a muscle pull. Doing Zumba you may have simply reached a little too hard. Sometimes if I sleep on my side funny I pull that muscle just inside my arm that is right over my heart. It usually happens when I'm exhausted and sleep through the discomfort. (A little muscle cream, will help. I use a natural one.) If you've eaten spicy foods or something you're unaccustom to, you can create a gas pain. If an antacid relieves it, you're good, lol.

If it's neither of these, you need to pay close attention to this. Heart and lungs can stay healthy with prevention. But if something is already going on, you need to be proactive.

God bless,

M.
