I was wondering if anyone knew of an eyeglass place that is cooperative with families or has a plan that will work with you changing out eyeglass lenses possibly a few times a year? I know I am not the only parent that has to do this. Insurance only offers lenses every so often and the places I went to only offered a plan to get the lenses changed 1 times a year and then you cannot buy that plan again for those lenses for another year. I am locate din Henderson, NV. Any info would be greatly appreciated. The reason why we sometumes need to change her lenses is due to her vision problem and hee growing . It is quite normal with kids with Amblyopia . THX L.
This issue is another reason why I am so happy my daughter switched to contact lenses. (We buy what we need) My daughter will be 13 in a few weeks and this is the first year that she has kept the same prescription for a whole year.😊
As you probably know, you can keep your frames and just get new lenses. If she needs lenses with a new prescription in them more than one time per year, opt for the cheapest lens (none of the anti reflection etc). Sometimes local colleges with an eye care have cheaper pricing for the exam plus the replacement lens.

I would also talk with small, independently owned optical shops, not just big chains. You'll get more personal service that way. The chains aren't necessarily owned by the people who work there, so the decision-making may lie elsewhere. My local shop offers a discount for people who don't have insurance, just to keep them coming to the shop. They are family-owned, run by 2 brothers who just love what they do. If you can explain to them why you need to change lenses so often (unless it's common enough that they will know), maybe you can find some wiggle room to negotiate.
You may need to find an independent entitiy. I buy vintage frames and typically, the opticians that I see won't install lenses in frames I don't buy through them. A lot of those places prefer the 'snap in' lenses. I don't know what's in your area but if you can find an independent lab which makes lenses, they might be able to help. Call around.
With our 9 year old's glasses, we paid a little extra for a higher quality lens (scratch resistant and other perks) that came with a free replacement if the lenses get scratched.
Not sure why you need to changes out the lenses. I've never done that for myself, and I've always declined the higher cost lenses. But I'm glad I decided to get them for my very active 9 year old.
If you have a Walmart in your area, check if they have an optical. I haven't used them, but I paid so much for my last set of glasses that it was crazy. I will go to Walmart next time. If you pick certain frames, the cost can be less than $100 for lenses and everything. All the frames seem about the same to me unless you're looking for big designers.
Our insurance pays for new lenses every year; however frames are only covered every 2 years. Has never made sense to me either! Our eye dr. often suggests we just get new lenses put in the current frame or has even used a frame we had at home that was worn several years ago. I suggest you talk to your eye dr. or his office staff.
