Since she appears to be ready for a big girl bed, I would move her into it BEFORE you move...this way - she's not dealing with ALL change....
CONGRATS on the new home!!!
Hi Everyone! I hope this finds you well.
I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter and next week we're going to be moving to a new house. She has talked about wanting to sleep in a bed for a while now and has been napping on one this summer with success. I still have her in a crib at nighttime without any problems, except sometimes if she wakes up at night, she wants to sleep in the bed and not the crib again.
We just inherited a really nice bed and I was thinking that we could put it in her new room when we move and start the transition then, but I'm not sure if that will be too much for her. Would it be better to stick to what we're doing for transition sake--keep the crib and bed in the room and do naps on the bed, crib at night? Or is it okay to do cold turkey bed for both nap and nighttime?
Thanks so much for any help you can give me.
Take care!

I would say change her to the bed before you move so it isn't such a new situation when you move.
Best wishes! =o)
I just did this a few months ago with my 2.5yo daughter. We moved from overseas to the states and I knew that we wouldn't have a crib for her in the new house as it would take 6-8 weeks for all our stuff to arrive but I had a twin mattress for her already in the new house. I talked it up for weeks and told her she would straight into a big girl bed in the new house. It worked like a charm and I had no problems moving her into the new bed. Since your daughter is already talking about being in a big bed then I would just tell her when you go to the new house she'll get to have one. Make it special so she's concentrating more on the new bed then the move which can be scary for little kids.
Children adapt easily, we don't. She will be fine in the new bed at the new house. Play it up and make it special. It's an adventure. Embrace the adventure and she will too.
We're moving tomorrow and going through the same thing. My 3 yo has been wanting a big boy bed. We actually thought about changing his bed over before we moved, but it turns out that we didn't have the rails we needed and decided to just wait. We are talking about doing it though and he really wants us to do it now, so he's excited about it. I think if you let her pick out her sheets, etc and make it something fun, she will adjust fine. He can't wait for his new room and his new bed, although it may be a different story when we finally get there! ;-)
Good luck!
It sounds like she is ready for the bed now. I would make the switch now. But I am in a get rid of stuff mode and would welcome the opportunity to get rid of the crib or at least store it.
ask her if she wants to get rid of the crib when you move. She will say yes, and then do it. She may ask for it, but getting her moved is probably easiest rather than more changes. Expect some increased comforting requirements, but that will be fine.
When we moved last year with 2.5 year old twins we faced the same question but with the addition of them being in seperate rooms for the first time. I expected a week of problems with bedtime. Both transistioned seemlessy the first night. I gues that they can handle more then we think.
