I need help!! For the past 3wks my baby has been refusing to go to sleep until 4am...I have to get up at 6am to get my oldest to school...So many nights I am going without sleep for the simple fact its easier to get up and get ready if your already up. I come home and sleep until around 1pm...I have tried everything to keep him up during the day...he just passes out during the day and at night he just wants to be held...right now he is asleep in the carseat...I was shocked the he even went to sleep. I am so sleep deprived I don't know what to do. Any advice Please HELP!!! *sniff *sniff

I am sooo sorry!!! I know your soo tired!! This is what I would try to do. If he falls asleep during the day for more than one hour, I would wake him up and play with him.. do everything I could to keep him awake.. If you can manage to do this for a least two nights in a role I think maybe it will help... I know you think he may be tired and you want to give him sleep... but I would (no expert of course) Wake him up, he does need naps during the day, but dont let him sleep for more than an hour or two during his naps.. At nap times have music playing, more lively but NOT too lively than the NIGHT time music, Give him a massage at bed time, For now I would take TWO hours out of the night to get him ready in the mode for Bed Time, Give a bath, sing to him softly, have soft music playing while giving him a bath, Make everything around him soft a peaceful before bedtime, Give a warm night time bottle only! Along with warm ceral.. if he takes that. This will make him sooo sleepy... Also, try laying him down awake but drowsy, this may take a while but the sooner you do it the less likely he will to have sleep trouble.. It WILL Be RUFF, but he will go to sleep.. Also, the book I read was the Baby Wispher, by Sarah Hogg.. Its an EXCELLENT book.

Good luck to you
S.

All around this is normal, for your concern and lack of sleep. I am sure all your other children had sleep pattern changes. Get as much help as possiable, plan outings to keep everyone occupied and to wear everyone out, and most of all it will not last forever. Good luck!

Has he learned anything new lately? My 6 month old just learned to sit unsupported and has been having a bit of change in his night time sleep. At his 6 month check up the Pedi said that sometimes new milestones temporarily interupt their sleep patterns. Also, is he possibly teething? If so his gums may just hurt more at night and you may want to try Ambesols night time formula or tylenol. Night time baths and massage may also help relax him.

Good Luck, I know it's tough not getting sleep!

have you tried introducing a new bed time routine? Or even a few nights of co sleeping? I wanted to change my little one's bed time by us going to sleep in a spare bed in his room a few days later he got used to the pattern and is asleep in his crib "on time". Good Luck.

If you are gone during the day... he may have decided this is the best time of day to have you to himself. Just a thought.
