I am usually pretty good with home decorating but I am stumped on this one. I have pleated shades in every room of my house and need to replace them. I want to get cordless cellular shades but I am stumped on color. Each room in my home is a different color, they range in color from chocolate brown, to greens, creams, etc. I am not sure if I should go with a cream or white. I want to be consistent so from the outside it looks nice. I know the white will make the windows stand out more but I am not sure if that is the look I want. I am having a tough time imagining how it will look. Suggestions please!!

What can I do next?

Hello, I just bought new shades for every room in my house. (holy smokes!!) The "street" side of the shades are all white. It didn't matter what the inside color is. I looked at many different brands and almost all of them have a white/neutral side that the outdoors sees. Good luck!

What color is the outside of your home? I would try to complement that color, since that is what will show from the outside.

It really depends on how your rooms are decorated. Cream or white is usually best, but if you make it cream, make it a light cream. Some of those cream ones are yellow-y and really ugly. The fact that all your rooms are a different color is another reason they should probably be white. You need something to unify your rooms. Also, I LOVE color in a home, but there should be some visual break from color. Window treatments, ceilings and moldings can provide this, and quite often look best white in a very colorful home. .

The main thing is that they need to match when you look at them from outside. When I look at people's houses, and I see unmatching window treatments from outside, it really bugs me.

We have a few rooms with honeycomb shades, unlike what the person below said they are the same color both on the front and back. The shades were already up when we moved in and are a hunter green color... Personal I would have gone with Cream because that goes well with everything.

We have a light cream in our house and it looks good from the outside. If any of these are bedrooms I highly suggest getting the black out blinds. The light comes in and will wake up our kids early. We haven't wanted to pay the expense to replace all the treatments so the kids have curtains to help block the light.

I actually used to work in the industry. All Honeycomb shades are white to the street-side so don't worry about that. As far as the interior color, most people go with white or off white. Both are neutral and will look great with any wall color. If you have wood trim around the window, you may want to choose a similar color to this. Otherwise, go with what you like. Don't be a afraid to use a color in certain rooms as the light coming through (unless blackout Honeycomb) will soften the intensity of the color. Good luck.

I wouldn't be so concerned about the outside as long as they are all the same your really not going to distinguish from the street if they are white or cream. I personnally think that cream sounds like it is more inline with your color palett. In the past I have always gone with the trim color, if your trim is painted white than the blinds will look better white, if you chose cream they would look old. If your trim is off-white then I would go with a light cream, but definately not white. If your trim is the wall color and its a warm color go with the cream, if its a cold color then white would be best. It might help to get samples and tape them up for a few days to see if you have a preference.

Good luck.
