I would call the vet - I've seen some animals have reactions to other flea products (usually the over-the-counter ones) that look more like a burn or a sore on the skin where the stuff is applied that is painful and really bothers them. Usually cats have more serious reactions when the wrong stuff is applied (neurological signs, facial/head twitching) but Advantage (as long as it is what is labeled for cats, not dogs) should be okay. What you are describing does not sound typical and I could give your vet a call.
