well i know with our son that is how he is. He is pretty much awake all day and then sleeps all night. I personally dont think there is anything wrong with it as long as he is healthy
My almost four month old takes only cat naps during the day - no long stretches. He sleeps long stretches at night, just not during the day. Any ideas about how to change this?
Thanks for all the advice! Well, he started not sleeping well at night either. We decided to have him take his naps at 9 and 1 during the day (when he seemed the most tired), and we put him in his bouncy seat. He sleeps for about 2 hours in there. I figured if he got used to sleeping for long naps during the day in the bouncy seat, I'd transition him to the crib in a couple weeks. I know it's not the perfect solution, but it's keeping my sanity for now! Hopefully, a schedule during the day will help him at night too (hopefully!).

Hi Meredith,
My son did the exact same thing. It lasted for about two months from 4-6 mos. He would take like a half hour nap every two hours. My son grew out of it now at six months turning seven soon he sleeps for about an hour and a half in the morning and then about 2 hours sometimes a little longer in the afternoon.
Unfortunately if an infant wants to sleep they will sleep and we should let them but dont worry he will grow out of it.
I can't remember all the details about this age and their sleep habits, but my sister loaned me a book that has some GREAT suggestions and has really helped my daughter sleep very well. It's called "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" by Marc Weissbluth. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for sleep suggestions.
Good luck!

My son who's now 11 did this when he was that age and he just eventually grew out of it. Same w/my 12 month old I have now. She was doing that, taking power naps and she now takes 1-2 hour naps. Just wait till the little one learns to stand up, then when you put them down they just stand right up and cry cause they think they're missing something! At least that's what my kids did, maybe you'll get lucky and he won't.
Good luck!

Hello. My 7 mo old does the same thing. She is nursed and will fall asleep nursing and I think she is done. She wakes up after 5-10 min and wants to eat more then goes back to sleep. Your little one might not be eating enough prior to falling asleep. Good Luck.
First off this is very normal, try to see if there is a pattern to his naps are they at about the same time every day? can you keep him up through 2 or 3 of them and then let him go down for a nap? that's what I had to do with the infant I baby-sit for, i keep her active and playing and probally have to hold her a little bit more and we skip the early little nap she likes to take so that she'll sleep when all the other kids do, she still only goes down for about an hour but it is more convenient than 3 or 4 15 minute naps in the span of 8 hours. hope this helps, good luck.
I know they say not to put babies on there stomach but during the day i put my 4 month old on her stomach and she sleep for 2 or more hours, she knows how to turn her head and she can hold her head up but i do peek in on her once in awhile. Grandma told me to try it.
