Carrying "High" vs "Low"

I'm pregnant with my 5th, and this time am carrying VERY high. We don't know the sex, and I am in the same physical shape with this pregnancy as the others, meaning, yes, I exercise, and always have, so the ab muscles are no more strong than the last 4 pregnancies. I really don't think its a matter of physical fitness this go-round.
So my question is, did you carry all your babies the "same", different, and if different, did it really correlate in which gender you gave birth to? (The old wives' tale being that "high" is girl, and "low" is boy.)
We are excited to find out the gender of the baby, but wait until the birth, so just trying to see what my "odds" are!

What can I do next?

I carried low and all in the front (like I had a ball under my shirt) with my son. I carried a bit higher and more spreadout/all around with my girl. That has been true with everyone I can think of in my family and close circle of friends/co-workers etc. There was even a neighbor who was told she was having a girl but she was carrying like a ball and a bit low. We all said "Wow, looks like a boy to us". She delivered a very healthy baby that was most definately a boy...all the pink dresses had to go back (no one bought her anything unisex except for may diapers). I have seen woman carry high with a boy but usually only if they look like a ball (just up higher). When they carry more all around they tend to be girls even if carried low.

I carry very, very high and what the doctors call "compact." I basically have a tiny belly through my whole pregnancy. Most people don't even know I'm pregnant until the very end if not at all. Prepregnancy weight was 110 and I only weighed 133 pounds when I delivered baby #3 so it's not that I had a big belly to begin with. All my babies are girls, so for me the statement is true that i high means girl. But I also believe it does have to do with weight and your body. I was little with each pregnancy and high with each, but my doctor did say that the better abs muscles you have and the less weight you gain the smaller and tighter your tummy will be throughout the pregnancy.

Those old wives' tales were borne out of ignorance - people didn't understand biology and science back then. So don't consider how you carry to be indicative of the baby's sex.

I will say that carrying high can cause you to get an umbilical hernia. I carried high with my second one and ended up with one. :(

(Btw, I carried both ways and both were boys...)

My first three were boys and I carried high- pretty much the same with all. I am 38.5 wks with a girl right now and I have carried low from the moment I started showing. I have always heard the opposite of what you said though- carry girls low and boys high.
