I do home heathcare and I have some patients that have accidents and I use Odo Ban. I get it at Sams club. It works great and kills bacteria also. D.
I need to know how to get the urine smell out of my son's carpet. It smells horrible and we cleaned the carpets but it still smells in his room. I have heard using the same cleaners like for pets and a list of many other products so I was wondering if anyone has ever had this problem.

I used Anti-Icky-Poo (seriously, that's the name) to get pet odors out of a room in my house. It's available on Amazon.com. It really does work and is especially effective if you know where the offense occurred. You actually inject it through the carpet into the pad. In my case, it was the whole vanity area of a bathroom, so I had to do the whole room.
You will still need to use a carpet cleaning product or steam cleaner to get the stain out. Anti-Icky-Poo does not do that. It surrounds the odorous bacteria and consumes it.
Best of luck and Happy Thanksgiving!

After we had our carpets cleaned they told us not to use powders and cleaners in the carpet because they ended up attracting more dirt. He recommended using hydrogen peroxide for stains and vinegar solution to neutralize smells.
Get Nature's Miracle at PetCo or PetSmart. DO NOT get Nature's Miracle for Cats. It doesn't seem to work.
It's $30 per gallon but worth it's weight in GOLD as
it can get urine smell out of ANYTHING! Just follow directions. It can also remove red wine from silk taffeta! GREAT product for getting out pet smells, human odor and
stains from food/wine. I use it in my antique business.
I sell antique textiles in Houston. -- Please don't waste your money on any other pet odor or stain remover! I have used them ALL!
WhAtever you do ... Do NOT use Oops Steam Cleaning. We
had them out for a light pet urine smell that they made 20x
worse. Brand new 4 month old house & now ruined $4000 worth
of carpet.
Good luck. I feel your pain.
There is a product called Kids N Pets that is the most effective I have found. I used it when my dog got really old and started having accidents, and now I use it if the kids have one. I'm not sure anything will work if they carpets have already been cleaned, and it's been awhile, but it's worth a shot!
I would try carpet cleaner meant for pet stains or you could try spraying it with ammonia. Just make sure the room is well ventilated and you stay out until its dry and the smell is gone
Try Nature's Miracle. (red and white bottle) You can get it at a pet shop. Worked on my pet's accidents. I also use it to clean the grout around the toilet for those middle of the night misses.
A good, professional, steam cleaning. That is what we did when my middle one decided his carpet was a toilet. You can also use the febreeze antibacterial (since that is where the smell is really coming from) in the mean time.
Tell the company there is urine in the carpet and they will take care of it. Make sure you use a steam cleaner and not something like Chem dry. Ask about their warranty as they may come back if you find the smell is not gone. Most will do a room for about $35-50. There are coupons everywhere.
Good Luck
Did you steam clean the carpets? We hired professionals after our son was sick all over the carpet. (we cleaned the mess but it still had a funky smell after regular cleaning products). sorry if tmi!
