Just wondering if anyone has ever used Care.com or similar to find a babysitter? We only need someone for an occasional date night or other appointments where I need to be child free at most 4x per month. We had a great sitter for about 6 months, she was a friends daughter, but she got a waitressing job and usually isn't available. Our family lives about 45 mins away and it becomes a hassle to get them to watch the kids. So I figured I give the site a try. Just wondering the positive/ negative/ what to look for stuff.

We got our nanny from there fairly recently. Couldn't be happier and I believe other people have had great luck too. There were a ton of very qualified looking people on it. Of course, we still contacted references and my kids aren't so young that I worry as much. I also know people who use Sitter City and seem to be happy.
I have used both care.com and sittersitty.com. I have found that there are geographical differences - so when I lived in Chicago I had better luck with sittercity, but in Columbia I had better luck with Care.com.
I found nothing negative about either site and I liked each sitter that I used.
We haven't used care.com, but we have used Sittercity.com with great success. We've used three different sitters (mainly due to availability) and they were all great. We were very particular in who we chose and only searched for those that already had background checks and we did an interview on the phone and checked the references provided. One of the girls turned out to be a good friend's (who lives across the street) babysitter.
I didn't use it for a babysitter but I did use care.com for senior care-giving and had great success with it. I like the way the site is organized.
I have used it several times and found several wonderful sitters through the site. However, I will say I had to interview probably about 10 duds for each good person I found. Good luck.
I used care.com and found 2 sitters from the site. Actually more but I hired 2. I use a sitter 2 hours each day Mon-Fri sometimes more if I have errands to run and then occasional date nights. The site just puts you in touch with a sitter that is interested you still have to interview. I like it.
