Boy you're good!
I read the trash mags at the library for free.
I love the Goodwill store for clothes sometimes. Also dishes and housewares.
Shhhh . . . . don't tell anyone! ;)
I love a good bargain. Finding hidden gems of frugality are a hobby of mine. I'll share a few of mine, you share a few of yours?
If you live near Grand Prairie, there is restaraunt, Rio Bravo, that sells a complete chicken fajita dinner for $3.99 Steak for $4.99. And it's good food! $1 beer and margaritas. $2.00 shots of Patron. It's amazing.
Applebees has the cheapest drinks of any major chain. They are going for a younger demographic and trying to earn the next generation of devoted patrons. They expanded thier hours to stay open late and dropped drink prices to ridiculous. $2 long island teas and margaritas.
Sams Club has the best, cheapest pizza. They have a $2.25 deal that is a large drink and a huge slice of pizza that is bigger than the paper plate they give it to you on!
Dollar Tree is the best place to get balloons. $1 each for mylar. I'll often stop and pick up 3 or 4 and a pretty weight on the way to a celebration. For $5 I look like a super thoughtful hero that went to great expense. Great to take to the hospital for a new arrival, to a kids birthday party, graduation party.
Sallys Beauty Supply has great quality generic versions of the best hair products, salon shampoos, and treatments. I just bought generic versions of Wen for $7.99 Mixed Chicks for $6.99 Clairol Professional Shimmer Lights Shampoo for $5.50. And Big Sexy Hair for $7 For around $20 I got $100 worth of hair products!
Ok, your turn. What are some excellent value secrets that you can share?
My co-worker bought Wen and din't like it at all. I didn't know that when I bought the generic. I love it. It took some work, but our hair turned out great. It's just like applying color. You have to start in one area and apply it and rub it vigorously, then comb it through and when youre all done, put more on and let it sit. It doesn't lather so combing it through is not easy. My dausghters hair is ethnic, course, thick, all around difficult. My hair is over processed and bleached blond. It made both our hair bouncy and soft and a little shiny after one use.

I once bought a Hummel figurine from an antique dealer who thought it was a replica....because the mark on the back side only said "Mel"......I paid like $10 for it! After a little research I found out that this particular one was from about the 40s, and "Mel" is how they mark them for German distribution only.....book value at the time was over $100. Yesterday I found a "Van Briggle" vase in the dumpster at work. I snagged it out of a box on the top of the pile because I thought the turquoise blue glaze was pretty...I thought it was a craft piece but googled it anyway....yay! He was a popular potter that passed away approx 1904...if I remember correctly...his wife also made things for years after...the pottery is still made in his designs..looks like my piece is from the 40's and depending on which EBay seller you believe worth anywhere from $60 - $275.......yay! One time I bought all of a product that Publix had special ordered for me and would hold at customer service for me to purchase 1 or 2 at a time...for $7.99 a box...well...I noticed that somebody put the whole case out on a clearance display near produce, and they were reduced to $5.99.....so I went home and printed a ton of coupons from their website and went back and bought them for $2.99 a box, enough to last until their expiration date + 1 which ended up being a year and half supply, then I qualified for their "spend $25 on groceries and qualify for $10 off $50 gas card".....when I was done the cashier pulled off the receipt and said "thank you for shopping at Publix today ma'am, ....you saved $90!". Yippeeeee!
So...I have a question......have you used the real Wen products? How do you like the generic version? I'm sooooo tempted!
allyou.com will email you different free samples you can get daily. I have received free tea, coffee, laundry detergent, hand cream, shampoo, soap etc.. Even though the samples are small like one tea bag or enough laundry detergent for one load I figure it still adds up. Plus, the shampoo samples are great for vacation and I throw the hand cream samples in my car.
I get a good meal, drinks and atmosphere at Taco Cabana most weekends. Even when I am alone, I take a magazine and sit outside to soak up the sun. Use the receipt for $1 off next meal.
Kroger's diapers are $14 a box for the same amount of diapers that come in the $24 name brand boxes, and they work just as well.
ETA: I just thought of another one...Alot of places (like cvs, kodak ect) offer free pics when you sign up on there website. So we get alot of our pictures of the kids developed for free just by entering an email adress. (I sign up once then my husband signs up the next time.)
