Cards, Special Letters Etc. What Do You Do W/them?

Every time I start to do Spring Cleaning, I always come across oodles of cards, letters, thoughts, poems etc. for me or even for other members of my family. Do you have a special place these things are stored? Have you ever made a coliage out of these things? What do you do w/all of these that you collect through the years. Mind you, I have NOT saved every single one but a significant portion. How do you narrow down what to keep? I am not a huge scrapbooker but maybe it would help to do something like that so they can "have a place" instead of a random shoe box etc.
I appreciate you sharing...

Ahhhh love this question and love this idea I came across and no do. I am in direct sale and on a visit to my national sales directors home I noticed this basket full of cards simply displayed next to her shelf in her office. I asked her about it, she said she gets so many thank you cards, uplifting notes and cards of support that she couldnt bear tossing them so she put them in a basket! I LOVED to think that my card was in there and how it showed they meant something to her. She said whenever she is feeling down she'll start reading through some of the cards. I now have a basket in my TV room (not nearly as big as hers) filled with bday cards, thank yous etc that were inspiring or shared some thoughtful words. I get asked about it all the time and people love the idea.

I put mine in sheet protectors and put them in a 3 ring binder. I have them organized by year.

If the person wrote something thoughtful I keep it. If they just signed their name I toss it. I mainly keep the ones from my husband.

I actually cut off the side that has a hand-written message to put in a scrapbook and then use the decorative part to make new cards. It's fun to reuse them and hopefully not too tacky.

I have a couple of different places I put these things. First, each of my four children has their own keepsake box. Currently they are a plastic storage boxes, but always thought I might do something a bit more decorative in the future - who knows what I will have time for with four kids. As far as Christmas Cards, I choose my favorite (visually) and make a 3-d ornament out of them and the photos that friends send I put in Christmas albums that I only put out at Christmas time. If I receive nice poems or sentiments, I put them in some sort of pretty format on my computer, print it out and either frame it or make it into a cover of an existing photo album or box, etc. I also have a pretty ceramic box that I keep on my shelves for display in my family room, this is where I put other sentiments and poems I have received.

Hope this helps.

I keep them from hubby, kids, parents, and grandparents. Right now, mine are just in shoeboxes as well. With the exception of a few in the kid's baby books for Baptism, first Halloween, ect...

The ones I choose to save for me I put in a hat box. I like to go through them every once in awhile.
I have a ton for my daughter from the baby shower and birthdays she's had. All the ones from the shower were too darn cute to throw away, so I am going to decorate her room with them using one of these...

I get a cute box and put them in there. I do have my daughters in a scrap book, but mine (like I kept boot camp letters) are in a box.
