Any tips on a car seat liner so that when my kiddo gets car sick I can rip it off and be able to put kiddo back in the seat and soon be on my way?

Not kidding. It’s only happened twice and hubs was with me both times but had he not been there don’t know how I would have both minded/ secures the two year old and detached the car seat hauled it to the nearest restroom/ gas station hosed it off, reattached the seat cover, etc.

Thanks
F. B.

Been there... gross lol. We had one of those DVD players on the back of our car seats and our toddler projectile vomited and all I cared about was that DVD player (brand new). Poor kid. He didn't know what hit him and I was scrambling to get that thing off the back of my head rest ...

We had these liners that were flannel like that had holes to fit the straps through in our infant seats - but I see you can order similar things in a more heavy weight kind of material and even mesh from amazon.com if you type in carseat liner.

Here's one -

I'm not sure it would offer total coverage but at least he'd be able to sit on something and be safe.

Here's another that says "Super absorbent"

oh i have been there!!! ( my son started with the carsickness around 12 months. used to vomit on trips longer than 20 minutes. )
a large bib with the catch pouch at the bottom is one option, i used one of those with a towel on his lap to catch the rest. once he was verbal he would tell us he was not feeling well and we would pull over and take a break from the car. then we started using peppermints to settle his tummy so we can keep traveling to the next stop. for long trips we use many tactics but he is also 7 now and can usually avoid the vomit by prevention
traveling when he is tired and will sleep, making him search for things outside, switching from looking down activities like coloring to looking up and out, changing the temperature of the interior, if hes hot he will get sicker quicker. adding fresh air to a car that has been closed up for a while (opening windows)
i also learned to recognize the signs of getting sick when he was younger and i had a good supply of gallon size ziplock baggies, soon as a saw the signs i would have him hold it or help him hold it to catch the inevitable. (after ya zip up the smell, baby wipe the kiddo, and toss the baggie at the next stop. now that he is older he keeps track of his own baggie, and brings 2 on school trips just to be safe)

i don't know of anything official, but our new rescue dog is carsick and i've been overwhelmingly grateful for the dog hammock we put in the back seat.

can you drape him in a towel? a rain poncho so his hands can be free?

I have used towels to line the car seat in the past, and at one point, I remember buying a plastic cover I found on Amazon since my daughter would get carsick often. I believe you should be able to find one of those. You could also try a plastic tablecloth that you can "line" the car seat with, or one of those plastic diaper changing pads that you could put underneath your kiddo. If not, you can contact the manufacturer of your car seat and see if they sell liners you could buy, you can have an extra spare that you keep in the car and switch it out while you wash and dry the other one.

When my daughter was old enough to talk, she'd tell me she felt sick and needed her vomit bucket. I keep it in the back, under the seat, so any time she feels sick, she can vomit in there. It even has a lid (it was one of those huge protein powder containers). Works great, keeps the car clean, and we can keep the smell locked away until I get home and can clean up the bucket. Keeping a change of clothes, Lysol and paper towels in your vehicle is also a must!

I just found this on Pinterest. It's called a car seat blanket that goes UNDER the baby. It protects the car seat.

I learned to take the whole car seat to the car wash, intact, and spray it down like it was a car. Then bring it in the house and turn it upside down on the heater vent. If it's summer it can sit outside upside down to dry.

This eliminates all the taking off and putting on. If it were me I might keep an extra car seat around so I could switch them out and have a clean one and one in the process of being cleaned, drying, or stored for emergency use.

Buy buy baby has car seat covers (so if he got sick, you just pull off and throw and then he is sitting on the original car seat - obviously if you had 2 accidents back to back, you'd still be washing the original car seat). It comes with extra strap covers since some accidents only involve straps and other the whole seat. I'd bet amazon carries something similar.

Your best bet might be to put a bib on him after he's strapped into his car seat.
It would catch most of the mess and keep it off the straps.
If he could wear a kids art smock or apron before he straps in - the bib and smock could be removed fairly easily with the mess more or less contained.
