Can someone help.. I am SOOO confused. I have a newborn and we are trying to get his carseat installed correctly. I have received so much conflicting info. I have a minivan that has latches in the seat that we attached the base of the car seat to, now I found out this morning that is incorrect. We used the seatbeat to brace him in and it seemed to lean him forward to much and his little head has to braced with blankets. I have gone to the police department here in Blue Springs, and that itself is frustrating. There is only one person that checks carseats here and you never know when they are working. Does anyone know a place that I can go that will check out my carseat and install it for me and make sure that my son is going to be secure? Thanks in advance for your help.

What can I do next?

Hi Tracey, I think you can also go to your local fire department. You might also try babies r us. I just remembered I got a magizine talking about this very subject it's American Baby from Babies r us August 2007 issue in cast you want it. It says that you can go to this website www.seatcheck.org then click on find a "technician" to locate a certified child passenger safety techician or a inspection station near you. You should try and find this article it gives alot of good information if you can't give me and email address and I will scan it for you and email it to you. Hope this helps you, W.

I would go back to the hospital, and ask the nurses. I'm surprised they did not check it before you left..they did with both of my kids and they are 12 and 7 and the laws have changed and are much stricter now.

T.,

I work at Cable Dahmer Chevrolet, and we have car seat checks once a month. I will find out when the next one is. However, my sister-in-law just had a baby, and I installed her carseat for her. Using the LATCH system is fine and you don't need the seat belt for that. My son is 10 mos old and I simply attached the base using the LATCH system in the car. I will get my contact information and see where a check place is in Blue Springs, or if you like, I don't work until 4:30 every day, and my son and I can meet you somewhere and I could install it for you. Let me know! My email is ____@____.com to you soon!
