I LOVE my Britax marathon car seat..It is expesive but well worth every penny of it..It lasts up to I think 60lbs..

Hi J. - I cannot say enough good things about our Britax car seat. We bought ours when our daughter grew out of her infant carrier and we love it. Besides being incredibly soft and comfortable, it is also the easiest car seat to adjust. You can literally loosen and tighten the restraint straps with one hand - so if you're strapping your lil one in and need some slack because of a bulky coat you can just reach down and flip a switch. It's that easy. We bought ours about a little over a year ago (my DD is 20 mos now) and at the time it was the highest rated car seat by Consumers Report. I'm not going to lie to you though - they are not cheap. Mine was about $200 and I bought it on sale online. But I can honestly say that it was totally worth the extra $$. It's one of the safest brands out there and also, it is hands down the easiest car seat to pop in and out of your car. It takes me under 5 minutes to move it from one car to another. If you have the extra money to spend I would definitely recommend this car seat. Another idea, if you know anyone who subscribes to CR you can have them check and see what car seats they've rated highest currently. We decided to purchase an Evenflo Titan convertible car seat. They were highly rated by Consumer Reports and even were chosen as a CR Best Buy. They also received an "A" rating from the NSTB. But best of all, they are one of the less expensive convertible carseats available at around $100. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I have a 18 month old and when she was about 5-6 months she was too big for the infant seat, we tried about 3 different seats and found the Cosco alpha omega seat to be the best. WE actually have two of these now, 1 is an elite and the other is the eddie baurer 3 in 1 and they will be with her until either 80lbs or 100lbs. They go from 5 lbs to 80 or 100. I have a cousin expecting next month and told her to skip the infant seat and save the money on just one of these seats. We just love them. Hope this helps.

We switched at the exact same time to the Eddie Bauer Convertible seat it goes to 100 pounds and till they are a year old in goes in backwards so they face the back seat. I think it was $160. But well worth it. We bought a 2nd one that does not allow you to face backwards that goes to 100 pounds as a 2nd car seat and was $100 and the Eddie Bauer was is way nicer. Hope this helps

Hi J.. When my first son grew out of his car seat, we bought the Britax Marathon. It's like a car seat La-Z-Boy! He was always fussing in the carrier car seat, but as soon as we put him in the Britax, he was a totally different baby in the car. It's got a lot of padding and looks really comfortable. It must be since he's still happy in it on long car trips and he's 2-1/2 now. It's pretty expensive, about $200 or more, but it's one of the safest on the market and since it goes up to 60 lbs, I think it's totally worth it. Hope I was able to help!

We have the britax marathon and love it. It was very expensive ($250), but well worth it. It works well rear facing.

My friend has the Graco comfort sport (I'm not sure of the model name) and likes it. It isn't as easy to use rear facing, but it's a lot cheaper.

Just don't get Evenflo products. They have too many recalls and child seat inspectors don't tend to like their products. Britax and Graco are good brands though. Whatever, you do, I'd recommend putting your daughter in the seat and seeing if she is comfortable in it and if there is enough growing room.

Well, the "best-of-the-best" is a Britax convertible carseat. I think either the marathon or the roundabout are both convertible. Having said that, they are really pricey... I am sure others may have cheaper ideas, but Britax is well known for their safe seats. If you are an internet shopper, you should probably be able to find them cheaper online than at Babies R Us... Hope that helps!

HI.. i have three children, ages 8, 7 and 3 and all three, and still the 3rd, have had the BRITAX!! soo great.. a little pricey.. but worth it.. several diff styles...with really cute "covers" that can be purchased sep also..
They hold up great and are really super safe..(we had 2 at one time, but this last one we've had for 7 years!) just got a new cover!

When I was shopping around for my now 9 month old, I went to Babies R Us and one of the guys there took a lot of time to show me the pros and cons of the models I was looking at. I was looking at the Eddie Bauer ones, but ended up with the Britax one due to having more safety features.

My daughter is 3 now but I remember getting to that stage and there is so many to choose from, you don't know where to start. I strongly suggest that you plan an outing to either babys r us or another store that carries multiple car seats and bring your baby and try out the seats with her in them, some of them are so difficult to use and adjust and there is no other way to know unless you have hands on. My daughter was a large baby and we had to put her in a larger seat a few months before her first birthday. The babys r us web site is a great source as it has the newest seats and great advice and parents comments about seats that they have bought or tried from them. When I had to change to a larger style seat I was really getting caught up in thinking that I was going to buy the most expensive car seat because I assumed it would be the best but I found after trying it out at the store it wasn't. It is all about what works for you and your baby, so recommendations help but you have to pick the best one for you.

Hi, J. ~ I have a 13 month old and before we bought her a car seat when she turned 9 months old, I did A LOT of research and asked my family and friends. I found that the Britax Marathon and Evenflo Triumph were rated the best. The Britax Marathon is rather pricey and when we put our daughter in it at the store, her head was almost at the top of it. She is very tall for her age and it seemed she would grow out of it too soon. So, we tried the Evenflo Triumph and we loved it and ended up buying it. The only "complaint" I have is that there is this crank thing on the side to tighten and release the straps. In order to release the straps you have to hold down this lever on the side of the knob and sometimes it gets stuck, but it's not that often. Overall, my husband and I are very happy with it. My daughter seems to like it, too. She should ~ she looks like she's sitting in a recliner!! One more thing I found out in my research is to stay away from the Eddie Bauer carseats. Apparently, they are not made well. I also learned from my research that ALL of the Britax or Evenflo models are really good, but the Marathon and Triumph were rated the highest. Your best bet is to take your daughter with you when you go shopping and see which one she looks most comfortable in. Hope this helps! :-) L.
